Chapter 57: The Star Ceremony

After the fireworks were over, the group of teens continued to walk around the festival. Not much later they noticed a crowd begin to form around a makeshift stage, they also noticed a familiar mage standing on the stage. "Hey, isn't that Finral?" said Liebe as he pointed at the Spatial mage on the stage. "Yeah you're right" replied Asta, "let's go see what he's up to". Noelle rolled her eyes as the group walked towards the stage, "it's probably some stun to get a date". Asta then turned to Noelle with a smirk, "even if it is, it'll be entertaining to watch it crash and burn".

The group walked to the front of the stage while Asta waved at Finral, "yo, Finral! What's with the crowd?". Finral down to notice his two juniors and their sea temple friends at the edge of the stage, "Oh hey guys! You won't believe it but Vanessa and Captain Charlotte are about to go at it!". Asta's eyes widened with excitement and shock, "Vanessa is gonna fight a Captain!?". Finral crossed his arms before closing his eyes and nodding his head with a smirk, "that's right! Those two are about to do battle...". Asta grew even more excited as the suspense began to grow

"In a cosplay competition!"

And just like that Asta's excitement died faster than Sekke would in an actual fight. "A cosplay competition?" replied Noelle with her eyebrow raised, " I could see Vanessa doing this but I would never expect someone like Captain Charlotte to do something like that". Asta nodded in response, "yeah, she definitely didn't seem like the type to do this when I saw her in that cave a few months back". "I'm gonna be honest I don't really know the reason either" said Finral as he rubbed the back of his head, "I just saw the two looking like they were about to throw down and-". Final was then cut off by Noelle, "you saw it as an opportunity to see two attractive Magic Knights dress up?". Finral then nodded his head pridefully, "yup".

"Anyways guys, just stay here, the show's about to get started!" said Finral as he headed back to the middle of the stage. "Well it's not like we have anything better to do" said Liebe. "You mean besides an entire festival to explore?" replied Asta. "As much as I don't want to partake in something so idiotic, we should probably stay" said Noelle as she took a deep sigh, "we might have to save Finral from both Vanessa and Captain Charlotte. "And by we you mean me don't you?" said Asta as he turned to Noelle with a raised eyebrow. "Well, I don't keep you around just your good looks" replied Noelle as she patted him on the head.

"Alright ladies and mostly gentlemen, it's time for the competition to commence!" said Finral as he stood on the stage with a microphone in hand and standing in between two containers in the shapes of a heart, "the rules go as follows, once these two pretty ladies have shown us what they've got you'll send you magic to the magic container of the girl you want to win! First up is the Blue Rose beauty herself Captain Charlotte dressed up as..!". Just then the curtains opened up to reveal Captain Charlotte dressed up in a witches costume. "A sexy witch!" shouted Finral, to the excitement of the crowd, "now let's see what Vanessa has to counter this!". And right on cue Vanessa's curtain came down to reveal her dressed up in a nun costume. "Talk about a reversal!" shouted Finral, "Vanessa has actually put on more clothes for this competition and has dressed up as a woman of the cloth!". "I pray you all live fulfilling lives" said Vanessa as she got into a praying pose.

"Well this has definitely taken a weird turn", the familiar voice of their Captain caused Asta and Noelle to turn around to see Yami walking up to them. "Captain? How long have you been here? And do you have any idea why this is happening?" asked Asta. "I've been here the entire time Kid" replied Yami, "and to answer your question, when it comes to that prickly princess and our alcoholic witch I can never figure out what's going on in their heads".

The crowd began to vote on the lady they chose to win, quickly the two jars began to fill up until a verdict was decided. "It's a tie!" shouted Finral to the shock of the audience. "A tie!?" shouted Liebe in shock and annoyance, "we sat here for a tie!?". "Looks like we need to have a round two!" said Finral, "and the theme of this round will be swinsui-!". Before Finral could finish his sentence, Charlotte sent him flying with her vines.
