Chapter 3: The Magic Knights Exam

Six months have passed since Asta and Yuno declared that they will compete to see who becomes the Wizard king.Tomorrow is the day Asta has spent the last eight years getting prepared for. The Magic Knights exams. Currently Asta is standing on the hill where he buried his mother, "hey mom, tomorrow is the big day" he said staring down at the makeshift grave he made."Tomorrow is the Magic Knights exam, I've been training really hard so I know I'll get in" he said while smiling, "sorry but, once I become a Magic Knight I'm gonna be really busy, so I may not be able to visit as often" after saying this Asta sheds a few tears. Seeing this causes Liebe to appear and support his brother, "you ok Asta?" he asked. "Yeah, I'm fine" replies Asta as he wipes the tears away. After Asta finished whipping away his tears he placed a handful of flowers and the edge of the grave, "We've got to go now, love you mom" he said before turning around and walking away.

The Next Day

In the sky not far from the city Kikka Asta could be seen flying on his anti-magic sword. "Man this feels great! Thank god I learned this otherwise it would have taken us ages to get there." said Asta as he zoomed through the sky approaching the city. "Hey I think I see the arena where the exam takes place." said Liebe as he pointed towards a colosseum in the middle of the town. "Yeah I think you're right, let's go!" said Asta as he started to quickly descend towards the colosseum. " Hey slow down you idiot you almost sent me flying!" Shouted Liebe as he clings to Astas collar for dear life, "woops, hehe my bad" said Asta as he slowed his descent 'I wonder if Yuno is gonna show up' he thinks to himself as he reaches the ground.

After returning his sword into his grimoire Asta gets into line to have his grimoire checked.After around five to six minute waiting in line it was Astas turn."Next" says the mage who was examining the grimoire causing Asta to walk towards him. "Name" he says, "Asta sir ", "Alright let me see your grimoire" the mage holding out his hand. Asta then pulls out his grimoire and shows it to the mage, "what the, is that even a grimoire?" said the mage confused. Hearing this causes Asta to push the grimoire into the mages face while yelling " of course it's real!", "uh ok, you're examinee #170." said the mage startled. "Thanks" said Asta while he smiled and walked towards the testing area.

Once Asta entered the testing area he saw that the area was crowded with people, however near the center he noticed a familiar face "Yuno!" he shouted as he walked up to him. Hearing his name, Yuno turned around to see Asta walking up to him. "So you showed up after all" Asta said once he finally reached Yuno, "of course, I couldn't let you get a head of me" said Yuno. "Get ahead? Heh sorry Yuno but I'm way ahead of you" said Asta smirking, "You can't be serious, I'm on a completely different level than you" said Yuno as he began to have a faint smile. "What did you sa-!" before Asta could finish his sentence he was swarmed by a dozen birds. "Gah what are these things!?" shouted Asta as he began to try and swipe the bird away but to no avail. "I heard those anti-birds are attracted to people with low magic" said a random male contestant to another, "yeah even for someone from the boonies that's pretty pathetic" replied the other contestant.

Asta then began to try and run away from the birds while contestants all laughed at him. After running around for a solid minute of him running he felt himself bump into someone before falling over. After bumped into the man all the anti-birds flew away in fear. "Huh? Oh sorry for bumping into you" said Asta before he felt a hand start attempting to crush his skull. "You wanna die kid" said the man as he began to lift him into the air. 'What the!? Who the heck is this guy, this dudes massive!' thought Asta as he tried to get out of the man's grip, "five,four" said the man. "Why are you counting down?" said Asta terrified, "I'm counting down till I kill you" the man said. "What!?" shouted Asta even more terrified than before, however before the man could kill him a male mage with brown hair walked up to them. "Ah there you are Captain Yami! What are you even doing down here?" the brown haired mage asked, "What does it look like? I'm about to wring this kid's neck" replied Yami while still crushing Astas head. "Uh please don't. A captain shouldn't be killing examinees. Besides what are you even doing here?" the mage asked, "I needed to take a dump and I got lost" said Yami."Hey isn't that, Finral Roulcase! He's a user of rare spatial magic! He's really famous for spending so much time hitting on women it negatively affects his duties" said one of the examinees, "And that one is Gordon Agrippa! He uses Incantation magic! I heard he's really to talk to, plus he's creepy" said another examinee while gesturing to a man who has prue white skin and large black circles around his eyes. "Then that means he, Yami Sukehiro the Lord of Destruction and captain of the Black Bulls!" said the first examinee, "I heard they cause more trouble than they fix and that there isn't a decent one among them. I definitely don't want to be picked by that squad" said a female examinee. 'What the hell did I get myself into!!' though Asta as he gripped Yamis hand trying to get him to let go. Lucky for Asta before Yami could finish crushing his skull a voice could be heard throughout the testing area, "Thank you for waiting...Magic Knight examines" after the voice finished speaking seven people appeared in a higher level balcony facing the crowd. "Ah geez they started without us" groaned Yami as he dropped Asta, "you're lucky kid. better do something with the life I gave you, otherwise I'm gonna kill ya" said Yami as him, Finral and Gordon walked away. "I will be the one conducting this year's exam" said the voice from earlier as a man with a strange looking mask walked to the edge of the balcony. "Wow it's the captain of the Golden Dawn, William Vangeance! The top candidate for the next Wizard King!" shouted a contestant.
