Chapter 21 Haikyu x Miraculous

Marinette's class at the College Francoise Dupont were graduating this year and decided to have a end of year graduation week in Japan. Mr Agreste (Gabriel) was initially against the trip for Adrien, but later in the year changed his mind and authorised and paid for Adrien to go, provided he did certain photo shoots there with his class and Mr Agreste organised the schedule of what was happening and when. Adrien's classes trip would be paid for in full if they signed an agreement for use of said photoshoots without being paid as models. Everyone signed as it meant they could travel without straining their parents budgets, and for those who hoped to be models a chance for a bit of a portfolio.

As Amelie was having problems with Felix being an arrogant know it all, refusing to listen to anything his mother had to say, she begged Gabriel to take him with Adrien to this week, so that she could have a week off from his snide remarks, to reset herself. Surprisingly, Gabriel was amenable to this, provided the school would allow the extra student. They were surprisingly accommodating.

When Marinette called Kagami, who had returned to Japan earlier 2 years previously, to say that their class was coming over, and Felix also was coming, Kagami asked if she also, could possibly come with them and have fun exploring and doing things that week. Marinette asked the teachers and they agreed as Kagami was known to the graduating group, and Felix was also coming, at least then, they reasoned, Felix would not feel so much of an odd ball.

Kagami had started attending Karasuno High as it was nearest to where her Mother's grand estate was. Her mother, initially, sent her to a more elite school, Kaibara Municple High school, to enhance Kagami's fencing, but changed her mind at the start of this year, as she preferred the control having Kagami nearby gave. Kagami was there the year the male volleyball team went to nationals, and happened to be in Sugawara's homeroom. She had not really bonded with anyone at the new school as she was an outsider yet again from the start. The long bonds of friendship were already formed before she had gotten there.

Kagami did not mind this much as she was use to being alone, and she admired the volleyball team from afar for their achievements. She too, was looking forward to the week away with her french friends in the week the volleyball team was away. By chance they were heading to the same city as Kagami was going to meet her friends at and so, she was able to hitch a ride with them there and back.

The city that it was decided they would go to was Tokyo. The Volleyball team was heading to Shiokaze Park where beach volleyball fields had been set out. They were doing training on the the beach volleyball courts to develop their muscles more and learn to read the ball more as it was painful to dive into the sand. They were not spending all their time there though, just the first three days, and they were not the only volleyball team to do this.

It was agreed that the first day both schools would meet up and hang out together. Not that the College Francoise Dupont had any avid volleyballers.

Felix was standing next to Kagami watching Karasuno High play. Adrien and Marinette and their friends just happened to be on the other side of him. As he watched them play, he started giving harsh but accurate feedback on their plays. Unbeknownst to Adrien, Felix was actually a very good volleyball player along with any sport he set his mind too.

Tsukishima's eye began to twitch, not much ruffled the boy, but for some reason Felix's play assessments were getting to him. Not because they were inaccurate, but rather, they were too accurate, and he looked like a stuck up know it all that did not know how to play. Kagayama was not in much a better state. Eventually, about 3/4's of the way through the first match, the pair broke their cool and stomped over to Felix and challenged him together.

"Since you think you are all that!" the pair snapped "We challenge you and your buddies," indicating Kagami, Adrien, Marinette, Nino, Alya and Kim "to a volleyball match!"

Felix looked unruffled "Fine!" he agreed, before the others objected to the side "But they have most likely not played before."

"We haven't" Adrien said dryly "But I think we can do it!" believing in his friends as all of them had faced multiple akumas who used ball skills and were good at deflecting them.

Tsuki and Kaga scoffed "I will believe it when I see it!"

Sugawara came over next to Kagami and asked her "Will you be alright Kagami? Do you need me to explain to them the rules?"

"Thanks for the offer Sugawara, but I believe we will be ok, my friends are pretty miraculous after all."

Sugawara nodded and left her, if he had looked back he would have seen the grateful but surprised faces of her friends.

Kagami instead looked at her friends and asked "Do you guys want to form a game plan or what do you want to do?"

They all nodded, and left the court to discuss just that. It was decided that Adrien would be a libero, Felix team captain and Ace, Kagami and Nino setters, and the rest blockers and spikers. Although no-one really knew Felix, they had come to understand the game from his sarcastic observations and agreed that he probably was the best one to lead them if they had a chance at winning any games. Kim was to be the replacement player for anyone too tired to continue.

Felix, having seen Marinette in action, told the girl she could serve first. Marinette for all her clumsiness was surprisingly good at sport especially getting things to where they wanted to go. His decision was rewarded with 5 points before Karasuna's team got a hold of her serving style and ended her run of points with a minus tempo ball.

Karasuna only managed to score 2 points before accidently hitting the net as they were not use to playing on the beach volleyball court.

Felix was next to serve and got 2 points in before losing again to the minus tempo slam.

From there the match was pretty much even, as it turned out Adrien was a extremely good libero/setter, although for some reason he always set to Marinette, and Marinette would always catch them. Surprising the other team with her own minus tempo hits. The first time it happened the whole of Karasuno was standing there like dummies blinking. They had never heard of a girl doing minus tempo returns, especially on their debut in playing.

Karasuno shook it off eventually and they were able to block it as they had the other teams who had achieved the same feat. Felix made an excellent blocker and was really the glue that held the team together although it seemed to be mainly Marinette, Kagami and Alya doing the scoring. The game ended and Felix's team won by two points.

Needless to say, Felix was very arrogant about it. As it was not their normal playing habitat, Karasuno invited them to play on a normal volleyball court in 3 days. The offer was declined, initially as the schedule booked held no space for other activities.

Adrien and Hinata hit it off and exchanged numbers. Hinata and Nishinoya both hit up all the girls for their numbers as they were awesome players. Kagami gave a slight smile and said "I will see." and left it at that as she was still in contact with Hatori, and she did not want another romance after her failure with Adrien, and indecisiveness of Hatori. Nishinoya was younger than her as well, and clearly immature. She was not sure if she could deal with that.

Nino and Azumane had hit it off as well, and they had exchanged numbers too.

When Gabriel heard about the match between the two schools he decided that this was a perfect opportunity to exploit the up and coming popularity of the Karasuno school and arranged a second match in front of photographers, using his sports range of clothing.

Karasuno ended up with extremely fashionable sports clothes and great publicity, enabling them to continue on their success trip without the financial worries attached to it.

The second game was a loss to Felix's team as they clearly were not professionals, but despite this they made a good effort and had only lost by 5 points.
