Chapter 29 Miraculous Switch (3)

Marinette's view

I was surprised but pleased to hear what Adrien muttered, but apparently only Alya and I heard it as Nino reacted as if he didn't hear it and Julieka said nothing.

The class sung "Happy Birthday" to me and the rest of the day passed in a blur. Until it was time for fencing. I went to the class. Luckily, Kagami was there to help me. I had no idea on what to do in preparation.

"Who are you and where is Adrien?" Snapped Mr D'Argencourt.

"I'm Marinette, Sir, I don't know where Adrien is. My organiser said that I'm to be here. So, here I am." I chuckle nervously "Surprise!?"

Mr D'Argencourt looked at me sternly "Ok Miss Blueberry, show me what you have got."

I tried, but I was mowed down in seconds. After this, I was set drills to practice before I was allowed to try again. The second time I faired better. I was no longer the bottom of the class.

"It seems Miss Blueberry, you have a talent for fighting. Good work! Keep this up and you'll be able to take on Kagami."

I was surprised and pleased with the compliment.

"Well done" Kagami whisked "By the way Happy Birthday!" Kagami wished handing me her present.

"Thanks" I smiled looking at her gift. It was a bottle of my favourite perfume. "It's perfect!" I say amazed that she knew me well enough to get me something that I liked.

"Did your organiser let you know who your soul-mate was?"

"No it didn't, it just let me know that a second chance soul-mate was possible."

"How about you? Did any change occur?"

"Yes, it's weird though. It says second chance option Adrien Agreste."

"I see, Adrien said his organiser had said that he was paired with himself but a second chance option was available to him too. It's weird though, I appear to have his timetable and he mine. Anyway, good bye Kagami I have to go to a piano lesson here now." I leave to go.

Kagami's view

Hmm, that's interesting. Adrien's organiser doesn't say Marinette. In that case I will give it my all. It's the only chance I have at my happiness.

Adrien's view

After school, I hang out with Nino for a bit before deciding to climb to the area I spied Marinette in one day from fencing, she was drawing in her book, but she was there every practice so I guessed that she liked the view from the tree.

I had always wanted to see why it looked so comfortable and what view she had up there that made her keep returning to the spot. What I didn't realise was how difficult it was to get there.

Marinette does this every day? I gasped collapsing against the branch she sat on. I opened my eyes and couldn't help but follow her progress. She improved so much in the one hour lesson that I wanted to jump down and correct her mistakes in the last 15 minutes. She would have been in the top 4 students if I had been game enough to.

I blushed in embarrassment, but that would mean admitting that I was stalking her as my schedule said. That would be embarrassing to admit, so I hung around in the tree before going home to do my homework.

If I thought getting up the tree was bad, getting down was far worse. If I hadn't been Chat Noir I am sure that I would have fallen and hurt myself. Again I wondered how Marinette did this everyday.

After completing my homework, I went to the kitchen and asked them to teach me to cook as per my schedule. They were reluctant to let me learn until I showed them that it was on my schedule.

All I can say about that experience was...I have two left feet in cooking and I managed to burn water. The chef was mortified at how bad I was. I think next time we will be cooking simple things.

I then headed to Natalie to ask about sewing and designing lessons I was supposed to do. She gave me a big smile and said "Your Father would be so pleased that you are finally taking an interest in this side of the business." And promptly called one of the designers on Fathers team to teach me.

Again I was hopeless. I managed to succeed in arranging colours, but not fabric. The lady said that I made a good start for a beginner. I couldn't help but wish Marinette was with me. She explained things so well when I was visiting as Chat Noir.

I realised then that I hadn't got Marinette a present from Chat Noir so I asked the tutor what material she would like to receive if she was being gifted a material. She showed me a beautiful emerald green material that was clearly expensive.

"Do you think that I could have a couple of meters of this?"

"Sure," she replied "here, take this swatch." And handed me a folded up 4m piece.

"Thanks!" I said as I ran to my room to wrap it quickly. I Headed out after dressing well to try and catch my princess before she went to bed. I dressed well, as you never knew what might happen, Ladybug might have me as her soul-mate second chance... although she was my always my first choice.

I dropped in and gave a startled Marinette her present, to which I was thanked kindly and given a warm hug. Again I found myself not wanting to let go.

"Silly kitty, don't you have a patrol now?" Marinette asked.

"Oh, yeah" I say knowing a goofy grin had just appeared on my face."I better go now then!" And left to go to Ladybug and my spot.

When I arrived, Ladybug was there looking a little sad.

"Happy Birthday, my Lady" I say "Why the long face?"

"Ahh, Chat, I'm seriously not in the mood today for your jokes, though thanks for the birthday wishes."

"Present for you, M'Lady" I say holding out my gift.

Ladybug opened it and a soft smile framed her face, taking the white side and putting it on her "It's beautiful Chat, will you be wearing the black half?"

"I would be honoured too!" I say taking that half and putting it on under my suit before she changed her mind. Both were on longer chains so that they could not be seen unless actively shown. I figured that it was safer that way. "I hope that you had a happy birthday today, M'Lady. Did you by chance know who your soul-mate was?"

"No" she said so quietly that even my cats hearing almost missed it. "I was only told that I had a second chance option. I mean, what is with that? Where's my first chance?"

I hug her to me "Believe it or not, I understand better than you think. The same thing happened to me. I can't help but be disappointed as I was hoping for you or someone I know to be mine. Her birthday is the same day as yours."

We stayed like that awhile, her in my arms being comforted. All too soon we had to go on patrol. Luckily there was no akuma's needing to be purified so we went straight home afterwards.

"Claws in"

"Oh, Thank God, I'm starving." Plagg said

"There's cheese in the bar fridge" I say waving at it.

"Thanks Adrien."

"Night Plagg " I say collapsing on my bed.

"Night Adrien!" Said Plagg "Aren't you going to talk about your problem?"

"Shut up Plagg" I say being rude, truth was I didn't want to talk.

"Am here when you want to talk."

"Thanks buddy" I say rolling into a ball, tears forming in my closed eyes. I am not going to cry...
