Blood. Blue eyes. Darkness.
Sam sat up, shaking. He had had another nightmare again… But this time it was 10 times worse. Not karli. It was Bucky.
He was covered in blood, dying in a field and Sam couldn't do anything to help him.
Sam put his head in his hands. He had to forget him. They had no friendship now. They really were coworkers.
Sam checked the time. 5:00am. He closed his eyes. He knew he wouldn't be back to sleep. He decided to just get up. He had to be at the facility at 8 anyway.
He got out of bed wiping away his sadness and fear, ready to train.
Bucky
Bucky had not slept. He had spent the whole night worrying about… him.
It was now 5. He had just been lying in bed staring at the ceiling.
Bucky knew he had ruined his and Sam's friendship. There was nothing left. Bucky sat up and started getting ready, yawning, holding in tears. He knew it was his fault. Everything always was. Bucky couldn't keep a good relationship except with…. Steve. Steve would know what to do.
He missed him.
When he was finished in his room he decided to go downstairs for breakfast. A rare occurrence for Bucky.
As he walked downstairs he almost stepped on a small dark… object. He jumped and almost fell down the stairs.
'Alpine! What are you doing?!' Alpine miaowed and sprinted towards the kitchen. Bucky sighed, covered his face with his hand and followed the dumb cat into the kitchen. She had disappeared. Bucky sighed and forced himself to function.
He was exhausted.
He walked to his government issued fridge and took out the milk. He didn't really feel like eating but he thought it might make him feel better if he ate. He opened his presses and cupboards looking for food.
There was a box of froot loops. Bucky did not remember buying them but he just assumed his government issued check up…person… thing…. Had bought it.
Even though he had been given a full pardon the government still heavily controlled him. They had given him an apartment and a therapist. They thought that would be good enough. They also checked his house once a month to make sure he wasn't dead, hiding weapons or not eating. They did not trust Bucky.
At all.
Steve and Sam had been the only ones who had. Even Bucky couldn't trust his own mind. But he had been improving. At the thought of Steve and Sam, Bucky started to feel sad so to take his mind off things he began reading the back of the cereal box. Shovelling a spoon of colourful, sugary cereal into his mouth he tried not to think about Sam. He spat it back out.
Disgusting.
He'd rather not eat at all than have this. He checked the clock. 7:30?! He had been thinking about Sam for almost 3 hours?! He was going to be late! He quickly jumped up, brushed his teeth and went to leave. As a second thought he grabbed a 'government issued apple' and left.
*Traffic*
Sam drove down the avenue towards the facility hoping not to get stopped by a traffic ligh-
Uh. Too late.
He stopped the car and turned on the radio, trying to distract himself from his nerves of seeing Bucky again since their 'fight'. He noticed a car pull up beside him out of the corner of his eye. He half turned and noticed the person. He knew them? Oh.
