'Hey babe!'

Sam flinched as he heard the voice calling out to him from the kitchen.

'Uh... Hi baby'

He silently cursed. He'd have to apologise to Bucky for this.

Sam and Alex had been 'dating' for a week. Alex was far too comfortable.

Sam walked through to the kitchen where there was a dinner set out. Candles and... Wine.

Oh no.

Suddenly Sam felt hands wrap around him from behind. He jumped and spun around.

'Hey hey baby it's just me!'

Alex.

'Oh sorry'
'Long day?'
'Yeah'
'Where were you?'

Sam paused. He couldn't reveal that he had been avoiding going home.

'Uh... I just went on a walk'
'Ah cool'

Alex took Sam's hand and led him over to the table. Sam tried to relax. He couldn't bare to be around this man who had tried to kill Bucky, was controlling robots and obviously had a plan that would probably destroy a lot of people's minds.

'I'm really sorry Sam but I have to leave early. I know we barely got to see each other today but I have work. I only have time to eat dinner with you'
'It's ok'

Alex sat down and gestured for Sam to sit opposite him. He complied and looked down, feeling nervous.

This wasn't right.

Alex gestured for Sam to eat. Sam picked up his knife and fork. He didn't even know what he was eating, he just started putting food in his mouth.

'So Sam, I was thinking that we should invite Bucky over for dinner'

Sam choked.

'Oh... Are you ok?'

Coughing.

'Y-Yes I'm fine'

Alex shot him a concerned look and continued talking.

'So what do you think? He could bring his girlfriend and it would be good as we are all working together!'

Sam nodded, not trusting himself to speak.

'Great! I'll ring him so... Do you have his number?'
'...Yes'

Alex paused, pointing his fork at Sam.

'Actually why don't you ask him yourself? You're friends, right? We could have dinner tomorrow because work ends early that day'
'Sure. Sounds good...'
'Great!'

Alex stood up, kissed Sam on the cheek and headed for the door.

'I gotta go now. Sorry baby'

Sam sighed in relief.

'It's ok'

Alex smiled sadly.

'I'll make it up to you later'
'Yep'
'Bye sweetie'

He headed out. Sam waited until the door clicked shut before slumping in his chair, feeling dejected.

He didn't even feel comfortable in his own apartment now.

He missed Bucky even though he had seen him a few days ago.

A lot had happened that night.

Sam replayed the night through his head. Bucky kissing him... Multiple times. 'Distracting him' and almost shooting himself.
