Bucky followed Sam blindly down the street before he could realise what was happening. He stopped.
'Sam?'
Sam stopped and turned.
'What are we actually doing?'
Sam smirked and shook his head, walking back to Bucky.
'I told you. Getting food'
He took Bucky's arm and attempted to keep walking. Bucky stood his ground.
'No seriously'
Sam sighed.
'Just trust me'
Bucky paused.
'You trust me, right?
Bucky looked up at Sam.
'Of course, of course!'
'Good… now c'mon. We are gonna be late'
Bucky shook his head. Followed Sam.
'Wait. For what?'
✨ Samuel ✨
S
am was actually hungry. But he was more than hungry. He had to talk to someone. Sam and Bucky walked side by side. Companions. The road was quiet with a few houses and restaurants. A good place to lay low. Sam filed away that information for later.
They turned a corner. Ah. The diner.
It was a brick, red colour and seemed fairly popular.
Sam hadn't been here before. All he knew was there was some information to be gotten here. Rhodey had called. A young woman who worked here knew 'Jackie'. Lemars sister. What a coincidence that she lived in John Walker's Town. Hm.
Sam didn't trust coincidences.
Sam didn't know how much she knew though. Rhodey had not found out how close they were or if they even talked… But it was worth a try. They did need information.
Sam pushed the door. Damn. It was a pull door. Bucky smirked. Eventually the door opened.
The diner was traditionally styled. (I'm sorry I don't even know what this means) Black and white checkered flooring and a wide counter. Breakfast. Sam's stomach growled. He wanted food first. Bucky still followed Sam, gradually getting more confused.
'Sam… Are you going to tell me-'
Sam walked to the counter. A young man stood there.
'Hi! How can I help you?'
He glanced behind Sam at Bucky, who was glaring at him. His bright smile disappeared. He swallowed nervously.
'Uh…table for two?'
Sam shrugged and smiled.
'OK we have a lot of room today so just take any seats you want'
Again Sam walked away from Bucky. He walked to a window seat, considered it and sat. Bucky paused at the seating. He really didn't know what was happening. He decided to sit, facing Sam. Sam smiled. Bucky watched him, waiting for him to speak.
Silence.
Bucky uncomfortably rotated his wrists and Sam's smile got wider. Bucky dropped his eyes. Footsteps. They both turned to see a woman standing beside the table. She beamed but glanced warily at Bucky who was glaring at everything.
