He missed.

He missed?

He missed!

Sam shoved Bucky away from him and stepped backwards in fear. He still had the gun. Bucky raised his head, looking terrified and trying to walk away.

'S-Sam... Get of here'

Sam didn't even try and persuade him to come. He sprinted past Bucky, knowing any second he could turn and shoot him.

There was a hole in the wall.

Sam needed his shield. He needed his shield. He needed his shiel-

He kept repeating that phrase. He was panicking.

How had Bucky fought off the words spoken by Alex? Sam had no time to think about it- he was out of the house and stealing a car before he could even pause.

He knew Bucky would be following.

And next time it wouldn't be as easy to fight the words.

As Sam drove to the facility he tried to think.

Alex must have some sort of a plan. But what?

He needed to think.

***

Bucky couldn't get the words out of his head. He needed to stop himself from following Sam before they spoke again.

He needed to reset his brain.

Where could the chip be?

He didn't have time to think or even take a second to breathe. He had to remove the chip.

He didn't even bother looking for tweezers. It would be too late.

He headed for the knife drawer.

It's OK it's OK it's OK. Ignore the words just for another few minutes.

He stepped back into the bathroom, feeling the comfortable weight of the knife in his hand.

This would hurt.

Bucky looked himself in the eye in his reflection. He was terrified.

Thankful the indent was obvious. One positive thing.

Bucky raised the knife.

JAMES.

Oh no.

KILL SAM.

Bucky ignored the words. He only needed 2 minutes.

The words swirled around his head. He took a deep breath.

OK it was time.

He pressed the knifes edge against his face and felt as it entered his flesh, opening the skin.

'Oww'

JAMES. KILL YOURSELF.

Bucky felt the urge to stab himself.
