'Bucky... Look at me'
Bucky turned his head slightly towards Sam but still wouldn't meet his eye. He still couldn't trust him not to hurt him.
It hurt.
'Bucky?'
'Yes'
'Please just look at me'
Bucky turned to Sam and looked him in the eyes for the first time in days. His face was covered in scars. The deepest cut was just under his mouth and the word 'Weak' had been carved into just above his jaw.
It was a constant reminder of the words spoken by the 'fake Sam'.
'How are you feeling now?'
Bucky's eyes flicked to the window. Obviously avoiding Sam. And the question.
'Bucky'
'Fine'
Sam sighed. Bucky refused to speak properly to him. Whenever he looked at Sam he was reminded of the pain and violation of personal space. (That made no sense but you get what I'm saying)
Sam stood up from his chair and left the room, not bothering to say goodbye.
He knew Bucky was in pain and was scared to trust him but that didn't make it any easier. The 106 year old super soldier had been put through enough distrust and pain for a lifetime. The person who had done this to him had known. Known about his past.
It couldn't have been Jackie.
There was more to this than there had originally seemed.
As Sam rounded the corner of the hospital he bumped into Rhodey.
'Sam! How are you?'
Rhodey seemed fine.
Too fine.
'Rhodey what happened to you?'
Rhodey looked confused.
'What are you talking about? Nothing happened.'
Sam was confused. He pushed Rhodey into the nearest room for privacy.
'Rhodey. We found you unconscious! What happened?!'
'I'm fine, Sam. Relax'
Sam's eyes narrowed. Something was off.
'Rhodey. Why are you acting so weird?'
Rhodeys blank expression slowly curved into a smile.
'Samuel. I thought you'd have figured it out by now'
Sam stopped.
What.
Before he could react Rhodey had grabbed him and pushed him against a wall. Sam froze.
'And you know I really should thank you for leading us to a quiet place where you can die in peace!'
Sam struggled against Rhodeys overly string grip.
Oh no.
'Now before you die I want to tell you what happened... Shed some light, shall I?'
Sam tried to move 'Rhodeys' hand but it wouldn't budge at all.
Oh no.
'Sam. I'm not real.'
A shark pain in his wrist where 'Rhodey' was holding.
Sams head spun.
The room was... Moving?
Huh.
'Stop spinning...' He mumbled before stopping. It felt like he was about to throw up.
'Aw poor Sammy is all dizzy?'
