Put your lips on mine and we can dance through the night time -Elijah Chambers

"Ice coffee and a croissant please," I order. The cashier clicks the buttons before taking my bill.

"Here's your change. Wait on the side." She points to the otherside of the counter with one hand and hands me my change with the other.

I take it and walk over to Ebony and Marcus. Ebony received her order but Marcus is still waiting on his. "So, how was the concert last Friday?" Ebony asks. This weekend my dad and I hung out so I didn't get a chance to see them.

"Amazing! I met the band." I would tell them how Eli writes their lyrics but I feel like he is keeping it a secret for a reason.

"That's so cool. I have no clue who they are but meeting famous people is cool," Ebony says. I wouldn't say they're famous. They're definitely underrated but a concert of five thousand people paying to hear them in just one town is definitely an achievement for only being around for a year.

I reach for my order as they put it down. We all walk straight out of the café. "I think I need something stronger. I barely got any sleep last night." I rub my sore eyes. I was too busy writing.

"Here." Marcus holds out his coffee cup to me. I take it and try a big gulp. The hot bitter taste glides down my throat unpleasantly. I hand it back to him while coughing.

I sip on my ice coffee hoping to get the taste out. "What is that?" I cough out. Ebony and Marcus both chuckle at my reaction.

"Straight espresso shots. No creamer, no sugar or anything," Ebony answers.

"It's not straight espresso. It's like six shots of espresso and black coffee to even it out," Marcus rolls his eyes. That would explain the horrible taste. "But yeah, no cream, no sugar."

"Aren't you British? Shouldn't you be drinking tea and not poison," I joke. Marcus knocks my shoulder with his, a low chuckle coming from him. "Just when your heart explodes don't come to me."

Ebony lets out a laugh. As we walk I notice Eli a few feet away. "Hide me!" I panic. Marcus laughs, giving me a push forward.

I stumble forward but a pair of arms catch mine. "River, are you okay?" Eli asks. I look up at him and nod, unable to speak. This is embarrassing.

I take a step back and he lets go of me. I look over my shoulder at Marcus and Ebony who took a few steps back and are engaged in their own conversation. Traders.

"I wanted to talk to you anyways. Do you want to take a walk?" He asks. His hands are placed in his pocket as he swings back and forth on the heels of his foot.

I bite my lip thinking whether it's a good idea or not. "I don't think so. I have class soon," I inform. I don't have class for another half hour but I don't want to hangout with him right now. It's not that I don't like hanging out with him, it's just the way he makes me feel. I don't know how to describe it.

He nods, running a hand through his hair. "How about after, what time does your class end?" He asks. I sigh trying to think of how to deny him.

"I have a lot of work to catch up on." I don't. I'm ahead with all my work.

His eyes flicker down to my jean jacket pocket before back up at me. I look down as he snatches my phone from my pocket. "What ar- oh," I mumble as he turns the phone around. The camera points at me and unlocks the phone using my Face ID.
