Chapter 10.

'Hello officers, how can i help you?','Mr Hemmings, your wife Sarah was in a car accident earlier this evening, she is in a coma at Royal Brisbane Hospital, she is very injured and in a critical state, the other person involved fleed the scene but we are doing the best we can to find him and charge him, thank you for time Mr Hemmings', Daddy closed the door and walked over to where i was standing, 'Scarlett, honey. We have to go to the hospital', 'Is mummy okay?', 'Mummy is fine, but we are going to visit her okay? Come on'.

I saw mummy sleeping with tubes and needles in her, 'Daddy, is mummy in pain with all that stuff on her', 'No, darling she isnt', daddy sat down next to mummy and held her hand, 'Sarah, if you can hear me, i want you to know that everything will be fine'.

mummy was asleep for 6 months and the doctors told me she wasnt likely to wake up soon

'Give it another month, please. I know she will come back to me', 'Ryan, i know your heart is breaking every day, but things are just getting worse. Every day she spends in that coma is making it worse, i think its time, let her go Ryan', i heard my aunty Liz say to my daddy, i was in the waiting room with Luke playing with Lego most of the time daddy was here.

-Next day-
'Scarlett, i need to talk to you', 'Yes daddy?', 'Scarlett, in a few weeks you're going to have to put on a brave face and a very pretty dress', 'Why daddy? Where are we going', 'We are going to see Mummy, and after that day, we can go and see Mummy everyday if you like', 'Why is Mummy not here, with us, right now?', 'Mummy is with the angels now Scar, who will protect her and make sure she is safe, but she is always watching us', 'So, you mean Mummy is up there', i said looking at the sky, 'Yes, Scar, Mummy is up there'.

'Hellooo? Earth to Scarlett', i snapped away from my flashback and back to the realization that i was at dinner with Calum. 'Oh, my mum. Right'.

'Well, my mum was in a car accident 10 years ago, and she was in a coma for 6 months before she passed. We found out 4 months after she passed what had happened', 'Scar, you can stop there if you like', Calum told me, 'No, i can keep going', i smiled.

'The forensics told us that they didn't know what had actually happened due to there only being one camera in a 5 metre radius of the accident and they only got the side of the accident, but they said that by the security footage, an hour before the accident, a suspicious car backed into a load of trees so the car was basically hidden, the police watched the car for any out of the ordinary behaviour, 2 cars passed within the hour and the car was still in place, then, the third car, my mums. They said that by the look of the footage, the people in the car were expecting my mum. As she got closer the car started, lights still off and within seconds the car drove out of the trees and collided with my mum, my mums car was pushed off a cliff and apparenly rolled 8 times before coming to a stop in the middle of a shallow river. The police and paramedics attended the scene straight away and were so shocked that my mum was still breathing after the amount of impact that she had expierienced, however, she was already in a coma. Paramedics raised her to the hospital where she stayed in a coma for 6 months before my dad finally decided to let her go and turn off her life support. The police later told us that a guy associated with a gang had handed himself in over the accident and admitted that he meant to push a diffetent car into the river due to a drug deal gone bad, he was sentenced to 75 years in jail, on 7 charges, because he had done alot of messed up shit that he also owned up to, and he had a request for my father to visit him and when my father granted that all he recieved was half an hour of apologies to my father and i. The end', i said. 'Jesus, that.. was... i dont even have the words, im so sorry Scar', he said apologetically, 'Its fine Calum', I smiled at him.
