The sun was just coming up, light just barely breaking through the darkness the night brought. Still, Armin was up, pulling on his sneakers and joyfully heading back to his own apartment. He remembered the stiff couch he'd been stuck on much more comfortable the last time he crashed on it, but the previous night had been tortuous. Perhaps it was the idea of what was going on in the other unit that kept him tossing and turning, yeah, that was possible. The reality of it hit him like a freight train when he stepped back into his home. Articles of clothing strung all through the living room. Armin huffed, it's not like Eren had ever been a particularly tidy person he guessed but still one might imagine him to be a little more considerate-
His internal ranting stopped when his eyes caught a glimmer of one particular article of clothing laid right in the middle of the floor. There was that damned pair of red underwear. Right there. He took his bottom lip between his teeth and stilled himself, he listened intently for any stirring, any sign of someone being awake and potentially catching him... when there was nothing he just couldn't help himself. Armin quickly made his way and picked up the tiny piece of fabric. The delicate lace definitely stirred something within him, but he shoved it in his pocket as fast as he could. Despite the parts of him that flirted with the idea that perhaps she wore that pair and left it specifically somewhere he could see on purpose, he knew it was wrong. Stealing something so small but so personal, was it silly to feel so turned on? He quickly returned to the kitchenette and got started on making a pot of coffee when he heard a door open.
A small string of curses filled the air and he supposed he must've seemed as inconspicuous as he planned when he heard a surprised yelp, "Armin! Sorry, I didn't know you were in here already..."
He looked up, noticing the state of the woman, blushing wearing clearly nothing but the t-shirt Eren had been in the night before. "Did I wake you coming in?"
"No, I'm usually up this early anyways- I was just looking for something..." (Y/N) quickly put a stop to her rambling, feeling slightly exposed. She knew technically the man had seen more than this due to a drunken party game, but it felt different standing in front of him. Especially not wearing any-
"What are you looking for? Could I help you find it?" Armin grinned, knowing full well why she was shifting nervously... unfortunately she definitely wouldn't find what she was looking for. Not if he had any say in the matter.
"Oh, no! It's nothing, I'm just gonna get dressed real quick and probably head out."
"That bad?" Armin chuckled. Honestly, he planned on dragging out the conversation out as long as possible. He didn't normally have a chance to speak to her without Eren around. He needed to figure out to change that.
She laughed, " Oh yeah...no, I just feel bad not going to class and something tells me that he was serious about skipping."
"That would be common sense." Armin confirmed as he watched her disappear momentarily. He was between admiring her sense of responsibility and admiring the little sway of her hips as she walked away. Both quite attractive. She'd probably only been out of the room for about five minutes, but it felt like an eternity.
Armin tried to keep himself busy and look as if he wasn't counting the seconds waiting for her return. Even though she was wearing the same clothes she wore yesterday, Armin couldn't help but admire how effortlessly pretty she looked when she returned. "Want a cup?"
"Sure, I have like 15 minutes until the driver gets here." She slid into a seat, and thanked Armin for the mug of coffee he prepared for her.
"There's no way I could get you to cancel that ride and just let me take you right?"
"Armin, you bought dinner last night, slept on someone else's couch and now you want me to let you go out of your way and drive me home too? I really feel like I would be taking advantage of you..." She really did feel bad about all of those things, and hated the idea of putting him out even more so.
"We're friends though. It's normal for friends to do that stuff, plus my class doesn't start until 12 and there's nothing else to do." Armin shrugged nonchalantly, hopefully playing it off like he wasn't on the edge of his seat praying she'd accept his offer.
She pulled out her phone with a sigh, "Fine, you've convinced me, but I still feel bad."
"Well don't." He answered simply and grabbed his keys.
"I'm not picking the music! That's too much pressure!" (Y/N) laughed and pushed the aux cord back towards him.
Armin just let out an exaggerated sigh before plugging his phone in. He wasn't actually upset at all, how could he be when her fingers brushed against his? Plus he was prepared for this... he'd already specifically made a playlist. It might not be perfect because he could only really make judgments based on the limited conversations they had about music, and a few lyric captions under her pictures. When he shuffled it and the first song started to play he assumed he did a well enough job and couldn't keep the grin off of his face listening to her sing along. He wished he'd had enough forethought to figure out a way to have recorded this, because he didn't think he'd ever heard anything more heavenly than the woman next to him bellowing out the well known lyrics. If he were being objective, there wasn't any way that she'd be winning a singing contest, but he was definitely past point the of objectivity.
"I'm impressed with your taste in music, and I guess I should apologize. It feels like a crime not to sing along in the car." She chuckled realizing perhaps maybe she'd gone a little too far in her performance.
"No, I enjoyed the concert!" He teased earnestly, "If you ever preform outside of a vehicle let me know, I'll definitely buy tickets."
"With all the chauffeuring around, I'd obviously just give you the tickets."
"And I was just doing it to be nice. Jeez, if I'd known there were other benefits I would've been driving you around a lot more. Go ahead and send me your schedule." Armin shot a quick wink in her direction. Flirting was never really his strong point and he was trying to be discreet (not wanting her to be uncomfortable). But the conversations just came so easy with her, and the laughter was so intoxicating. Now he knew why Eren tried to get her to do it so often. He was just so in love with her... he couldn't wait until he was the only one getting these reactions from her.
