A/N: Just wanted to thank everyone who's provided feedback and encouragement for this fic. I actually had a lot of fun writing this and appreciated every kudos, bookmark and comment! Also, thank you for sticking it out even though I made (Y/N) a dumb bitch something haha ALSO I've started a fic on AO3 as a sequel that follows Armin's end. If anyone is interested I will start posting that on wattpad as well.
You must be crazy if you think I'm gonna leave you here alone. Actually I think it'd be better if you left and waited for me somewhere." Eren was aware that it probably wasn't his place to tell the woman to leave her own apartment, but that didn't mean he wasn't going to try. Surely, she didn't actually expect him to comply with her absolutely insane request. "Seriously... let me just take care of this."
"But-"
"No buts! I know I can't tell you what to do, but if you'll let me just do it this one time please? I'll do whatever you want if you will leave this apartment. Flowers? A new phone? A trip to Disney world? Hell, I'll take you to Vegas and we can get hitched in front of an Elvis impersonator if you will pack a bag right now." Eren halfway joked, but in all actuality he was entirely serious.
She wanted to protest a little more, but the look in his eyes shut her up quickly. He'd been right about everything up to this point she guessed, and it wasn't like she really WANTED to see Armin again, it felt more like a necessity to try and figure out some way this all made sense. If it were anyone else in her shoes then she would tell them the exact same thing he was telling her. Though she didn't really think Armin would necessarily 'hurt' her but then again never in a million years did she think he would do anything of this. She sighed, "You'll be careful though?"
"Of course."
Eren smiled at the small victory and helped her get a small bag together. She promised that she would text him an address to wherever she found a room and refused his offer to pay. The only reason Eren conceded was because she told him she'd end up staying if he didn't quit arguing with him. After a quick peck to her forehead he rushed the woman out of the door, hoping that she'd make it out before Armin made it back.
Eren sat down on the couch, feet propped up the coffee table and as he flipped through the channels. He wasn't really looking for anything rather than just doing something to keep his mind half-way occupied as he waited. Immediately when he heard the door open, he flipped the TV off and stood up. An uncharacteristically content grin spreading across his face when he saw Armin.
"Where's (Y/N)?"
"Not here. I wouldn't worry too much about it because you're not gonna see her again. In fact if you want to keep breathing I'd say to stay the fuck away from her." Eren warned, his fists clenching as he tried to keep himself from immediately attacking his former companion.
"I know you're still upset, but some of this is a misunderstanding and-"
"Oh save it. Honestly I owe you an apology for when I called you pathetic, because I didn't know you were fucking psycho. Seriously, what the hell is wrong with you?"
" I didn't do anything to hurt her I just watched! What else was I supposed do?!"
Eren wasn't sure he ever bought into those stories of people just blacking out and attacking someone, but that might've been as close as he's ever gotten to the experience. He felt like he could only see red as he lunged at Armin, fists flying and both of them falling to the floor. Eren would've been impressed with the effort Armin put forth, landing a few blows himself if he hadn't been so angry.
Then Eren swung again and connected with Armin's cheek. He could feel the skin on his knuckles breaking at the force, but the pressure felt almost good knowing the pain was at least 50 times worse for the blonde underneath him. So he went for another. And another until he knew that Armin had given up and almost went limp underneath him. He dropped the front of Armin's shirt that he'd used to hold him up and watched his head fall harshly to the floor, "You shouldn't have stalked and drugged my girlfriend you piece of shit... I'm not kidding Armin, if I see you around her again I'll fucking kill you."
His legs felt a little wobbly as he stood up, adrenaline slowly leaving his system. Eren grabbed the box from the coffee table and taking one more look at Armin (bloodied and bruised) before leaving the apartment. He didn't think much of the state he was in, he just got into his car and drove to the motel that (Y/N) had texted him.
Tears stung his eyes and blurred the lights of passing cars, signs and buildings as he drove. Overwhelmed with everything that has just happened he didn't even realize he'd been crying until he wiped his eyes with his forearm. It was almost unbelievable everything that had transpired. This was Armin his best friend since grade school. This was Armin who he'd spent almost all of his free time with. The Armin he'd lived with since their first day in college. The Armin that would've been his best man at his wedding... and what now?
"Oh my gosh are you okay?" (Y/N)'s voice was heavy with concern as she swung open the heavy motel door for Eren, ushering him into the room and setting him down on the end of the firm mattress. She was quick to grab the basic first aid kit that she kept in her purse. She carefully cleaned and doctored up what she could of his injuries, feeling personally responsible for each contusion and bit of broken skin. His reddened eyes brought a fresh set of tears to hers, "I'm sorry..."
"Hey, don't cry! It's not your fault, and I'm fine!" Eren attempted to comfort the woman, "Hey you should see the other guy."
It was clear that his joke wasn't appreciated by the frown still cemented to her face. So Eren spoke again much more seriously, "Tomorrow I'm gonna call a locksmith for your apartment, and I'm gonna start looking for a new place. You won't ever have to see him again not even in passing and I guess we go to the police? Talk to them about a restraining order or something at least... it'll be over soon, alright?"
"You don't have to go through anymore trouble for me. I can do all that."
"Stop... I just got you back. Stop trying to push me away. You're gonna make me sad." Eren poked out his bottom lip playfully. Eren poked out his bottom lip playfully, hoping to lessen the gravity of the situation at least a little. The faintest smile made an appearance onto her face and he took that as a sigh on encouragement, "I missed you a lot."
"I missed you too... I really did."
Wanna do something crazy? Eren usually prefaced a lot of things with that phrase, most of which weren't crazy in the slightest. Go get ice cream at 3 am or stay up all night and play video games. Of course, there were a few times that he'd used it to Segway into a serious decision: Wanna do something crazy? Let's just move in together this weekend. Or the most recent and perhaps the craziest thing he'd ever come up with. "Wanna do something crazy? I was thinking about it and what if we just drove up to Vegas and actually got married by some dude dressed up like Elvis? You know I joked about it forever ago, but it doesn't sound bad."
"Are you seriously asking me to marry you that casually?" (Y/N)'s eyebrow quirked at the man, who had now shifted his gaze from the movie they'd been watching to her. There was a part of her that thought maybe he were joking, but then again it was Eren...
"Yeah." He shrugged like it was a simple question. To him it was. He loved her. She loved him. They lived together. They went to family events and holidays together. They'd been together for almost two years at that point. He couldn't really picture a life without the woman, so you know... why not? He wanted her to marry him so asking seemed like the next logical step, "I mean I'll try again a little more romantically if you'd prefer?"
"Yeah. Let's do something crazy."
Everything seemed to happen in a flash. The what if in his question was not hypothetical in the least, and as soon as he had gotten the green light, he was shoving clothes into a suitcase and loading up the vehicle, only stopping to make a few phone calls in case anyone wanted to tag along. Before she knew it she was standing in front of a man in a sequined suit that shared an uncanny resemblance to the king of rock and roll with a shiny new ring on her finger.
"Eren, I'm very mad at you..." Carla rolled her eyes as she was handed a photo of her son, daughter-in-law and Elvis. "(Y/N) is such a nice girl and you pulled this?"
"You're still gonna hang up the photo right?" Eren laughed at the prospect of the rather silly picture in the midst of her wall of professional photos of his family.
"Yes I'm gonna hang up the stupid picture, but I'm very mad about it... did you do this to mess up my gallery wall?!" Her eyes glowered at him, he'd always been a little bit of a troublemaker.
"Umm excuse you, I did it because I'm so in love, jeez mom." He rolled his eyes and pulled his bride close to his chest planting a kiss onto her lips and ignoring the chuckles and wolf-whistles from the rest of the 'wedding' attendees.
