"Stop going AFK! I'm not reviving you again, holy shit!" Jean's voice rang loud enough through Eren's headset for Armin to hear.
Eren just scoffed and ignored the grumbling coming through. He was seemingly unbothered by the outburst as he typed away on his phone curating the appropriate response before putting it down and picking up the controller again. "I revive you 24/7 it's about time you returned the favor!"
"Okay, we'll let the stats speak for themselves." Eren could practically hear his teammate roll his eyes, but he didn't focus too much on it when he heard his phone ding. Eren's eyes immediately shifted to device in his lap and Jean didn't need to be there to know it had already caught the attention of his teammate. Before Eren even had a chance to respond he was already scolding him. "Oh my god! Did you tell her we were playing? Is she still texting you this much? Jesus, does she have time to breathe before responding?!"
"You're gonna go deaf listening that loud." Armin haphazardly called out from the other side of the couch. He wasn't usually bothered by the loud noises that generally accompanied the normal sounds of the shooting games, but Jean did tend to go pretty intense when him and Eren were playing. To be fair Eren typically matched that enthusiasm, when he wasn't preoccupied. Armin joined in on the games most of the time... he wasn't quite as good as his friends at most of those games, but he wasn't particularly bad, plus he thought they enjoyed having someone to place the blame on. He declined their offer that day though... while he had claimed he wanted to do some light studying, he too shared in Jean's annoyance of Eren's distraction. Though, it was possible if he were in the other room and not having to look at the smile on his friend's face every time he looked at the smaller screen then he wouldn't have been nearly as bothered by it.
"There's two teams here!"
"Shit! Hey, Armin grab my phone and text (Y/N) that Jean's being a baby and needs my help, I'll text her in a- on me! On me! Where the fuck are you?!" Eren's phone was tossed quickly towards him, landing on the floor beside Armin's feet.
He could've easily bent down and retrieved the device and typed out the desired message. He thought about how short he could've been in the text, maybe making Eren seem like a tool... but Armin decided he could do one better. After their lunch on Tuesday and a second lunch on Thursday, Armin had received the notification that (Y/N) had started following him on his social media profiles. He had wanted to believe that he was somewhat special, but he could see her mutuals and it was everyone she'd been attending lunch with. Still he immediately followed her back, almost like he'd already been on her profile whenever the notification came through. While he had wanted to start up a private conversation with her as soon as he could, he hadn't wanted to come on too strongly and ruin any future chances. This, however, gave him the perfect opportunity to start up his own conversation, so he quickly typed her out a message.
Hey, Eren wanted me to let you know that he'll text you back in a bit. Apparently Jean requires his attention on COD lol. -Armin
No worries but jeez, let him know could've told me he was doing something 🙄 Now I'm gonna look all annoying lol -(Y/N)
Armin really enjoyed how quick she was to respond. It made him grin slightly to himself.
It's only Jean... none of us care what he thinks, you shouldn't either 😂 – Armin
I'll keep that in mind! I'll also keep this saved in case I need to blackmail you later 😜 - (Y/N)
I've said much worse TO him, if I knew you were after leverage I'd given you something better to use 😂
Guess now I know to be careful around you though lol- Armin
I'm just kidding! I would never 😇
Anyways, I'm gonna finally get some studying done while he's busy! I'll see you Tuesday! -(Y/N)
"I had to put down my phone for you to throw that last minute?!"
" Maybe I was tired from carrying you the entire game! Just return to the lobby and ready up!"
Armin chuckled at them, suddenly in a much better mood. It probably wasn't normal how much such a short, but direct interaction could affect him. He didn't even know if he was that annoyed at Eren anymore, and he was definitely too distracted to keep staring at his textbook. "Ask Jean if he wants to play trios?"
"You're gonna get on? I thought you were busy?" Eren pulled his headset to the side and looked over at Armin. He knew that Armin probably already has the material down, but he didn't normally give up on his studying so quickly if he blocked out the time to do it.
"I was getting bored but if you're good-"
"No, god. I can't stand this dude by myself you know that! Get on, we'll wait in the lobby for you." Eren readjusted his headset, "Armin's getting on too. You think Connie will want to play now?"
"Maybe, he says it's too much when it's just us..." Jean mentioned, and he could admit that he and Eren did have a tendency to push each other's buttons... Connie never took anything seriously enough to enjoy playing with just them, but if Armin was online he would balance them out a little bit. "I'll ask, if not we can probably ask Mikasa?"
Eren let out a groan, "She's a way too intense! If not Connie, then try Sasha and if Sasha doesn't then we can have Mikasa."
"Sounds like you're scared she's gonna call you out on your shit."
"Maybe I just want some kills too." He mumbled, knowing that when Mikasa was on their squad she was usually good enough to take care of the game by herself. His phone dinged again, signaling another notification. He ignored Jean's complaining and looked over at the screen and smiled as he read the message.
Don't respond, I know you're busy! Good luck on your game! I'll have to show you how it's done one day 😉😂 - (Y/N)
A/N: I hope the gaming dialogue isn't too cringe. I'm just basing it loosely off of my convos during Fortnite. 😅
