VERONICA

His castle in the Underworld was much bigger than the castle he owned in the other world. I followed him like a lost puppy, but what else could I do at the fear of having to navigate this entire palace alone if I got lost?

Every person he had passed smiled at him, greeting him with his name. No one called him "Lord Hades" or "King Lore", no matter how unfitting it sounded. Perhaps he changed it to Lore so that no one would call him that.

Unlike everyone else in the other realms, no one was allowed to address him so casually unless he allowed it. But here, in his home, everyone treated Lore like they were his friend instead of their king.

He opened two doors that towered over us, and sunlight immediately wrapped around us.

It was a sight to behold; the trees, the flowers, the garden, everything left me speechless.

Beautiful.

"Agreed." Lore whispers.

I stepped forward, my feet touching the warm cobblestone path that I expected to be hot from the sun.

I silently took in the beauty of the Underworld. Its beauty truly took my breath away, and the Upperworld no longer had sights like these that were left untouched.

"Did you grow all of these?"

"No. I asked for Alec's and Demeter's help when I was still expanding the Underworld. Alec still helps maintain its beauty whenever he visits."

Nodding, I turned to my right to see the magnificent field that I saw outside of the room I stayed at. I walked up to it, apathetic to even see if Lore would follow.

The children playing with Cerebrus were still running as if they had unlimited energy. They soon spotted me, then ran towards me. I noticed a few women had joined the children, and they too ran to me.

"Lore! Have you finally brought home a bride?" One of the women asks as she looks me up and down

Bride?

Don't worry about it. Lore's voice echoes through my mind.

I quickly turn to him as he denies the questions the women asked him. Did we just have a conversation telepathically?

"What's your name, dear?" One of the women asks.

"Veronica. What's yours?"

"Name's Iria, this one's Beth, my daughter." She says as she laid her hands on her daughter's shoulders who smiled at me.

Everyone started introducing themselves, and I greeted them accordingly. They later left to continue their chores, leaving me and Lore alone with Cerebrus on the wide field.

"What the hell was that?" I ask as I turned to him.

"What was what?"

"The thing where we just casually talked to each other without actually taking to each other?"

You mean this? His voice echoed through my mind
