"Are you sure you want to go through with this?"
"Do it already, witch."
"Don't call me that."
"I'll do what I want. Now, do it."
"What if it doesn't work?"
"It will work."
"Why? Are you the one entering her head to alter her memories?"
"No. But I'll be here to kill you if it doesn't work. In behalf of Demeter, of course."
"Right. Sure."
Veronica, keep your scar hidden.
"Are you sure about this?"
"What is it with you angels and that question? You just watched me neutralize your friends, Nixon."
"They are not my friends."
"Fine. The people you betrayed, whatever. Rest assured, I am the best person to do this right now."
"I trust that you are."
Veronica, keep your scar hidden.
"Good."
"Well, get on with it then!"
Veronica, keep your scar hidden.
"You know, Azura, I'd really appreciate it if you just leave and go fuck yourself."
"How does one fuck themselves?"
"I don't know. I'll think you'll manage."
Veronica, keep your scar hidden.
"Do you two ramble on forever and get nothing done?"
"Gods, angel. Fine. I'll do it."
Veronica, keep your scar hidden.
"Hmm, that's weird."
"What is?"
"She didn't even put up a fight when I entered her head."
"Maybe she's dead."
"Dumbass, she isn't. She's probably just too tired."
"Its Brie's fault, honestly."
"Hey!"
"Okay, enough. Brie, continue."
"Thanks, angel. At least one of us appreciates me around here."
Veronica, keep your scar hidden.
"Heavens below, this girl has gone through hell."
"What do you see?"
"Why? Desperate to take a look into your ex's mind?"
"She isn't my ex."
"Looks like it, though. All I see is the God of Death and Darkness, then you for like, a few seconds."
"I don't need your commentary."
"You literally just asked me what I was seeing."
"And now, I'm asking you to be quiet and do what you must."
"Pfft. You're fun at parties, I reckon."
Keep your scar hidden.
"I'm fun at parties, just for the record."
"I was talking to Nixon, not the other pretentious asshole."
"You misspoke and accidentally said something other than 'the prettiest angel in all the land'"
"Pretty sure I said it right."
"Bitch."
"What was that?"
"Witch. I said witch."
She jerked upright from the bed she laid on, the three loquacious individuals immediately readying themselves in case Brie's spell hadn't worked and she was still... well, her.
But she wasn't. She scratched her head and looked at them with curiosity.
"Brie, what the hell?" She started.
Brie smiled in her triumph and elbowed Azura next to her. "How are you feeling?"
"Like I had too many drinks last night."
"I told you to calm down and you did anything but that."
She snickered and stood up, her legs buckling. Nixon caught her in his arms when the girl toppled over.
She quickly turned her head away to blush and straightened herself. "I should probably start listening to you."
"Yes," Azura crossed her arms and gave her a wide grin. "You should listen to all of us."
"Are you alright?" Nixon asked, concern written all over his face.
She wanted to laugh. He had never looked more worried for her ever in the four years she'd known him. "Other than this ridiculous hangover, I'm pretty sure I'm fine."
He nodded and looked at the door. "Alright. Let's get some food in your system."
"Yeah, sure." She moved and followed him.
Her left palm suddenly itched and she couldn't resist looking at it.
A peculiar dream, she thought. She dreamt of it having a silver slash marring it. How she got it, she did not know. All she knew was that the hands she had were not made for that kind of scar, or any scar for that matter.
"Persephone?" Brie called out from behind.
She turned and raised her eyebrows at her. "Yeah?"
The witch smiled, the angel-assassin scowling behind her. Brie draped an arm over her shoulder and sighed.
"Nothing. Just making sure everything's well."
