VERONICA
The bitch was an angel.
And not just the conventional one— she was a dark angel. But her wings were not a symbol of eternal life, and I definitely fought her twice. And killed her, twice.
So how was she here?
"I think she's mad at us." Warren announced when her eyes searched the room, only to stop on me.
"Pretty sure its just me." I murmured.
Hermes snorted. "What? You kill her once and she holds a grudge on you?"
I unsheathed my dagger from my leg, the motion catching the attention of Lore. "Actually, I killed her twice."
More screams broke out when the windows shattered and more angels flew in. The King, who didn't look the least bit bothered by his wife's death, began shouting orders.
"What do you mean you killed her twice?" Warren shouted in an exasperated manner.
The guests started running out the doors, leaving a clear path to the angel unsheathing a longsword.
At least she learned her lesson from using a rapier last time.
"What else is there to explain? She showed up twice and died twice." Placing my dagger in between my teeth, I proceeded to removed my heels. It was bad enough that I had to fight her in such a long gown— the last thing I wanted to do is lose because I was four inches taller.
I handed the shoes to Lore and tied my loose hair up. Grabbing the dagger from my mouth and twirling it in my hands, the angel started moving for me.
"In terms of weaponry," Lore walked forward and his eyes settled on my wounds, still in the process of fully healing, then to the lapis dagger I held. "I think you've awfully miscalculated."
I smiled at him. "Just take care of my shoes. They're Dior."
He raised his eyebrows and looked down at the shoes I shoved into his chest earlier. The sight alone couldn't make me resist the laugh that poured out of me and the sudden urge to kiss him.
So I did. On the cheek.
Then, I ran.
The angel smiled and swung her sword at me, but I slid on the floor instead, using the newly waxed tiles to my advantage and slicing my dagger through her leg and wing in the process.
I turned and stood, while she cursed at the bleeding from her wing. "That is mine." She seethed when she realized what I held.
"Really?" I tossed the dagger in the air and caught it. "Come and get it."

LORE
Soldiers started pouring inside the ballroom to defend their King from the dark angels.
They were unsuccessful, of course. The Kottran King's army were no match for them and the power they held in numbers quickly waned.
