VERONICA

After a few hours of browsing and ignoring Lore, I finally teleported home.

6:22 A.M., the clock showed.

Taking a quick shower and changing into more comfortable clothes, I slumped into bed and slept quickly overcame me.

I woke up to the sun shining on my face, cursing at myself for forgetting to close the curtains as I stood up, still half-asleep.

8:34 A.M.

Two hours of sleep. I could probably have an afternoon nap, I thought to myself.

I padded through the kitchen to prepare whatever food I had left. I settled on coffee and some takeout I had in the fridge, heating it up in the microwave.

I sat down on my kitchen table and was about to take a sip of coffee as my phone rang.

Tarrin is calling...

Rolling my eyes at the sight of it, I answered, "Yes?"

"We found Demitricus. Headquarters."

"I'm on my way."

I ended the call as I transferred my coffee to a to-go cup and stashed the takeout back into the fridge.

I quickly changed into a black, knee-length and long-sleeved turtleneck dress with a belt, topped with a dark blue cropped pinstripe suit jacket and paired with knee-high leather boots.

(author's note: i know how annoying it is when some authors put pictures of outfits that their mc wears, but once again, i couldn't resist. here's a bit of a visual for you)

I let my hair down as I did a bit of my makeup, touching up some of my blemishes.

I checked my phone once more. I rolled my eyes as Hermes started spamming me random messages and questions.

Ignoring him, I grabbed my coffee and purse as I took the elevator down to the parking lot and got in my car to speed off to headquarters.

《♤》

I entered Tarrin's office in Headquarters, noting how much larger it was compared to the office he usually worked at in New York.

My eyes immediately latched on to the man who looked a few years older than Lore. He was bigger and taller, the God of Balance and Beginnings a sight to behold.
