Juliens POV-

"Good morning" Kendall mumbled coming into my room.

"Good morning pet" I smiled. She looked sad for a moment. "What's wrong?"

She shook her head and gave me a smile.
"How was work yesterday?"

"Good. I'm sorry I was late and didn't text you back. My phone died. And I had a meeting run a few hours behind. It was a shit show."

"It's okay. Stuff happens."

"I'll make it up to you" I got up and walked over to her, kissing her cheek.

"You don't have to. I'm not mad." She squeezed my hands before heading towards the bathroom. I stared at the closed door in confusion before shaking my head and going downstairs to make breakfast.

Twenty minutes later Kendall came down, dressed and put together.
"I'm gonna hang out with Polly. Haven't seen her in a couple months."

"Woah woah, hang on" I followed her to the door.

"What?"

"You know your rules. You never break your rules" I grabbed her arm to stop her from leaving. "What's wrong with you today?"

"Nothing"

"That's a lie."

"I'm not lying"

"Fine. Then rephrase the statement into a question."

"I already told Polly I'd hang out with her"

"Without asking? You never do anything without asking. Are you mad at me? Upset with me?"

She looked at me.

"Answer the question"

"No. Yes. Kinda but not really" she shrugged.

I pressed her back against the door, trapping her in.
"Why?"

"Because. You dropped me off at your friends house and didn't come back when you said you would. Doesn't that sound a bit too familiar?" She looked at me. She was definitely upset. "You didn't text. Or call. You didn't pick me up til close to midnight."

"Do you really think I'd do to you what Hayden did?" I looked at her. She averted her gaze so I wrapped my hand around her chin. "Look at me."

Her eyes snapped to mine.

"Do you really think I would do some shit like that?"

"No."

"Good."

"Now you're angry cause I'm upset with you." She frowned.

"No, you have the right to be upset that I was late. Im angry because it crossed your mind that I wasn't coming back. Kendall, we can't spend every moment of every day together."

"I know" she said softly. "I just wanted a call... or something. But it's fine. You came. So it doesn't matter anymore. I won't be upset anymore. Im sorry. Can I go out with Polly please? I won't be long. A couple hours. She wants to go to the coffee shop on main."

She nudged my hand off her chin.

"Yeah. You can go." I sighed.

"Thank you. I'll text you when I get there" she grabbed her purse, "sir." She added quickly.

She closed the door behind her. I leaned my head against the door and sighed. Her anxieties weren't mine to be mad at. She was upset and I got mad at her for it. I'm fucking it up.

     On the way back.

     Okay, did you eat?

From Pet 💜
      Not hungry

To Pet 💜
Ill make you a sandwich. You didn't eat much yesterday according to chase.

From Pet 💜
It's okay. I'll make something for myself. You don't have to.

I sighed at her text and put my phone down. Not long later I heard the front door open.

"Hey baby"

"Hi, sir." She gave me a small smile. "I didn't mean to be gone that long. I'm sorry."

"It's okay. Did you have fun?"

"Yeah, it wasn't too bad"

She headed into the kitchen and opened the fridge.
"Let me make you something. I've been dying to do something today." I said.

"You don't have to. It's okay. You worked yesterday for a long time so you can relax and stuff."

I looked at her and nodded. I leaned against the counter and watched her.

Kendall's POV-

I wanted him to know I could be independent. I didn't have to rely on him. I was still upset about yesterday but that went so well this morning, Im just gonna choose to ignore it.

I took a bite of my sandwich and sighed. I wasn't hungry. But I knew I had to eat something or I was going to feel miserable.

"You don't have to eat the whole thing" Julien said.

I nodded and sighed looking at the food. His sandwiches were made so much prettier. And honestly tasted better too. But I think that's just in my head.

"So what do you wanna do today?" Julien asked.

"Whatever is fine, Sir" I said softly taking another bite.

"Kendall" he sighed. "Stop."

"Stop what?" I turned to look at him.

"I'm sorry I was late. I know I messed up, I understand that you're upset. And you have the right to be. And I know you were anxious yesterday because of what Hayden did. And I'm sorry this morning for getting snippy with you about it. That's not fair of me." He said, "and stop this whole thing. You won't let me help you in any way. And I don't totally understand why."

"You said it yourself, we can't spend every moment of every day together. So I'm trying to be more independent. I'll make my own stupid sandwiches. I'll hang with my own stupid friends. And I won't be so dependent on you anymore." I was mad. I was mad because I was upset. And I was mad because I wanted nothing more than to stop comparing everything he does to what Hayden did. It's not fair. I'm so tired. I'm exhausted mentally. And I was mad. Just simply mad.

"Why're you crying?" He wiped my cheek.

"I don't know what I'm doing so wrong." I closed my eyes so I couldn't see him.

He sighed and pulled me into a hug.
"Nothing. You're doing nothing wrong."

"I'm such a mess." I buried my face into his chest.

"You're my mess" he kissed my head and rubbed my back.
