Jax
A few days have passed since the whole double date thing. I haven't spoken to Maggie because for one, I don't have her number, and two, I don't want to seem pushy. She's a lovely woman and I'd like to see her again, but with everything that's happened in the last year, I don't think she'd want to see me.
I haven't even thought about a girl as more of a bed buddy since my last relationship which ended terribly, but for some reason, I can't get Maggie out of my head. She's amazing.
I mean, besides her smoking hot body, she's funny, nice, beautiful, and her confidence just makes her ten times more attractive.
"Hello!" I snapped out of my thoughts and looked down at my eggs that were burning in my pan.
"God dude, what is up with you?" my brother Ryan asked me. "You keep zoning out."
"Sorry." I scratched the back of my neck and threw the eggs in the trash.
"What's up with you?" he repeated as he poured himself a cub of coffee.
"I met a woman." my mind rushed to Maggie and I run a hand through my hair. Ryan takes a sip of his coffee and sets it down before he stares at me.
"Did you bang her after that double date thing?"
A sudden urge to hurl my brother out the window hit me.
"Wow, chill out, your head will burst. Didn't know it was that serious." he said as he held his hands up in surrender. "So what about this woman has my brother daydreaming about things I do not want to know."
"I don't know." I shrugged. "She's just, different. Like when we were in that restaurant she wasn't awkward or nervous like most girls are around me. It was nice."
"That the first time you met her?"
"Nope. I accidently pulled out in front of her and she got out of her car to start yelling at me. Her son was in the vehicle though so it was understandable."
"Damn, you're into mommy's?" he wiggled his brows suggestively. "Those relationships can get messy real quick."
"Yeah, I know." I sat down on a bar stool.
"You want my advice?" I nodded my head. "Be sure of your feelings and intentions. There's a kid in the picture, and that's one thing you don't want to mess up."
"Kids." I corrected him.
"What?"
"She has three kids not just the one." I admitted and avoided eye contact with him. I know it sounds crazy to want to go out with a woman who has three kids, I've already realized that. Plus, I don't know if the dad is in the picture or if she's still in a relationship with him. I don't think she would have gone on that double date if they were together though.
I finally looked up at my brother whose jaw was dropped.
"You are either out of your damn mind, or pussy whipped."

Maggie
I laughed as Emmy chased Mikey and Sam around the living room while I watched TV.
"Ah! Mommy!" Mikey jumped onto me to get away from her.
"No fair, you can't hide by mama!" she whined. Sam came around the couch and jumped onto the couch next to me making me laugh. "Ugh fine. I want cuddled too."
She ran over and jumped onto my other side. I grinned and kissed all of their heads. I love when they just want to cuddle with me on our free days. It makes me happy to hold all three of my babies in my arms.
"Mama?" I looked down at Emmy who had her head laying on my shoulder.
"Yeah, honey?"
"Um, I ask you something?" she looked up at me.
"You can ask me anything." I brushed her hair out of her face.
She looked hesitant but the question she asked made me freeze.
"Why don't we have a daddy?"
I looked at her in shock not having any words. My gaze diverted to Sam and Mikey who were looking at me with questioning eyes.
"Um--" I cleared my throat. "You do have a daddy."
"What?"
"You do but when you were very, very, little he had to go away for a while." I told them.
"He didn't wanna be wif us?" Mikey asked sadly.
"No, no. He did and he loved you guys so much." I said.
"Can we meet him?" Sam asked. I sighed, but I knew this was gonna happen eventually. All the kids at their daycare have a dad and I see the way they'll watch other kids hug their dads when they get picked up. That look of longing and envy.
"I wish you guys could." I sadly smiled at them. "And I'm sorry that he's not around but he would have been so proud of you guys."
"He would?" Mikey asked and I nodded
"Even me?" Sammy asked and it made my heart hurt knowing he was talking about his cancer.
"Especially you. He'd be so proud of how strong you are." I kissed his forehead. "And your guys' dad might not be around but that doesn't mean you are loved any less than the other kids you know."
"I yuv you mama." Emmy hugged me and I felt my eyes water.
"Me too." Sam and Mikey joined the hug. I wrapped my arms around all of them before I began tickling their sides.
The sound of their laughter filled the room making me smile wide. When I stopped tickling them they jumped on my and started tickling me. I laughed loudly and squirmed around while they giggled.
If I didn't have my babies, I don't know how I'd survive.
