. . . Of Boys and Men
Jonathan closed the book from the lady librarian
She didn't seem scared and wondered why
He never had much to do with women so far
But he was worried about the look in her eye
"You ain't afraid of my partner's plan?"
"If you mean, being mayor - I'm afraid I'm not.
It's not up to Lorne Order who wears that mantle."
"He better do somethin' or folks re gonna get shot."
"Couldn't read that could you?"
She pointed to the book.
"Don't need to read it to know I don't like it."
"If you understood the words, maybe you would."
"Yeah, well I ain't no kid, so you just shut up and sit."
Jonathan stood and walked around with a swagger
"I understand you're the son of Solomon Ray."
"Told you to be quiet. You better do what I say."
"And the brother of Teddy, the one who ran away."
Jonathan drew his gun and aimed at Harriet
But the move she made left him alarmed
The little Derringer appeared from the folds of her dress
The lad was stunned; he didn't know she was armed.
