Fandom: Marvel/ Thor Length: medium short --------------
Walking down a long dark cold cellar was a figure covered by a long dark cloak. The figure stopped once they reach two armed guards dressed in Asgardian armor.
"Let me pass, I need to speak with the prisoner."
The two guards glanced at each other first and then back at the clothed figure." We have orders from the all-father that the prisoner can not have any visitors at this time."
The figure reached into the pockets in its cloak and grabbed a rolled-up piece of parchment with a golden seal.
One of the guards grabbed the scroll and tore off the seal and unrolled the paper to see what it revealed. He let his eyes run across the page before leaning over to show the other guard.
"Ok, but you are only allowed 20 mins, then you'll have to leave."
The cloaked figure nodded," that's all I need."
Removing their large staffs from the metal door, the guards opened the door and cleared the passage.
They passed through the threshold and walked down the narrow path. Passing by several different cells that held the fellow prisoners. Everybody from thieves to murderers was in here, located a couple of feet below the palace grounds.
It didn't take long before they reached the end of the tunnel. And there to the right of them was the large cell that held the man of the hour.
In it laid Loki prince of Asgard and god of mischief and chaos. He sat on a bed pushed against the wall in the corner, in his hands held a book that he seemed to be really into.
The figure thought that he hadn't noticed them yet but was surprised when he suddenly spoke out.
"Well, well, well what do we have here? A princess out of her castle, I don't think this is the place for the future queen of Asgard."
Taking off the hood of the cloak revealed crown princess Freya, also known as the goddess of love and fertility. She ran her fingers through her displaced hair and moved closer to the glass.
"And I don't think this is the right place for a prince, but here we both are," She shot back at him.
Loki smirked and closed the book he was reading and placed it on the shelf next to him. " That's what tends to happen when you are the favorite son."
At this Freya rolled her eyes, Loki always found a way to be overdramatic even when they were kids. Her eyes looked around the holding cell that he was in and it was pretty decked out for a prisoner.
The bed that he slept on looked far more comfortable compared to the others around him. He also a small bookcase that held multiple books for him to chose from. And next to the bed was a small table and two chairs that he could sit to eat at.
"I would hate to see what the most hated son would have to go through. Because from the looks of it you're living quite lavish," She said giggling at his arrogance.
Loki's smirked was wiped off his face fast. He fixed his tunic and stood up to get a better view of the princess.
"What are you doing here Freya, shouldn't you and my incompetent brother be planning a wedding or something?" He said in all seriousness.
Freya sighed at his attitude but continued anyway, " Gods Loki, can't I just check up on you? It's every day your best friend tries to invade and rule over Midgard."
Loki scoffed," So now we're best friends? Where was this so-called best friend when I was rejected from my birthright of being the ruler of Asgard? Oh, I remember... you were out celebrating with thor!"
Freya couldn't believe that even after all these years, Loki was still hurt about not being chosen to be king of Asgard. She also couldn't believe that Loki still questioned their friendship." Oh c'mon Loki, you know that thor is my best friend just as much as you. What was I supposed to do? Not be happy thor, if it was the other way around would you not want me to be happy for you?"
Loki was quiet for a moment, he knew that she was right but that still doesn't mean that his feelings weren't hurt but her statement got him thinking." If it was me, would you be just as happy to become by betrothed?"
Freya looked at him in shock, where did that come from. That was a question she differently wasn't expecting. Loki and Thor had been her best friends since they were children and she never saw either of them in that way at first.
When she was with them, they brought out a different side of her that she liked. Thor was energetic and loud while Loki was calmer and reserved. But both of them were troublesome and needed Freya to help reel them in.
Each brother had qualities worth falling for.
" Loki that's not fair, what does that have to do with anything I -"
"Answer the question, Freya!" He snapped interrupting her.
The poor girl flinched at the sudden change of tone in his voice, something she wasn't expecting.
"Yes," She mumbled lowly looking away for a second. Once she managed to build up the strength to look his way and when she did his face put her in awe.
It was rare for Loki to show emotion, but when he did it was always around Freya. It was one of the things that drew him to her.
"Do you ever think about what might've been? Because I have, Freya...in fact it's all I've ever thought about," He let out lowly.
Freya quickly shook her head no, she could feel herself about to slip into the words and lies of him and she couldn't do that." No Loki, we are not about to this... I can't, not anymore I'm sorry. I'm glad to see that you are alright but I have to go."
She quickly stepped away from the glass cell and placed her hood back onto her head before turning to exit the dungeon.
Loki ran to the glass of the cell to see Freya quickly disappear from his line of sight, " Freya wait!" he called out but she was already gone.
Lowering his head down in shame and defeat, Loki walked backward and sat back down on the bed. Picking up the book he was reading earlier, Loki glanced back at the glass one more time and shook his head " Maybe in another life..."
He opened his book and flipped the page.
