This a crossover story between The Vampire Diaries and Harry potter with hints of Originals towards the end of this story.
October 31st: How Elianna became a Gilbert.
On the night Voldemort tried to kill the potters he didn't actually kill them, instead he knocked them out but the spell Lilly had cast still worked and rebounded he killing curse Voldemort used and Harry still came the boy who lived and Peter gets arrested instead of Sirius and Harry also had a twin sister called Freya Lillian Potter but disappeared in the chaos. Not knowing where their baby had gone once they had awakened they sighed in defeated realizing their baby could have been kidnapped but they had never stopped looking not believing her to be dead.
What had really happened is that Freya got scared and accidently apparated from the house to outside the surgery's of Dr Grayson Gilbert months before Elena was born and when he found the small infant outside cold and with a cut on her shoulder he deiced to talk her home and in turn his wife Miranda begged him to let them raised her and they agreed and named the small infant Elianna Rosa Gilbert and that was the start of their small but growing family.

Elianna was a year older than Elena but is also a year above her in school and since Hogwarts students finish at 17 when they legally become an adult in the wizarding world, she won't be going to school at all during the stories, Meredith Fell is older than Eli but they have been friends since they were young, along with Eva Price who is a muggle but they are best friends non of the less.
There will be two parts to this story; the first will be pre season one to season four plus the first season of originals and the second part will be season two to five of the originals.

Instead of the twin being magically transferred into Caroline they are magically transferred into Elianna instead, so Alaric moves to a small town close New Orleans instead of Texas and they co-parent the twins until they open the Salvatore boarding house where the twins move back to mystic falls.
The dates for this story are all mixed up so the war ended on 2nd April 2009 instead of May 2nd 1998.
Lily and James are still alive and raised Harry but they still felt their daughter's absence and never had any other children.
Harry and Elianna met on the train to Hogwarts on September 1st 2002. Elianna's Real Name was Sofia Lillian Potter
Miranda and Grayson told her she was adopted the day she got her letter, they told her they were gonna tell her when she turned 13 so that she would understand better, Elianna forgave them for keeping it from her, and she still loved them despite the day she met her real parents, Miranda and Grayson were the ones who had loved and raised her nothing was gonna change that.
Elena, Jeremey, or any other of the TVD cast didn't know that she was a witch until near the end of what would be season 2.
Throughout both stories it will mostly be from Elianna perspective but there will be some point in the story that it will be from other Characters Perspective, there will also be a range of time jumps throughout the story as well.
