Not long after I arrived Elijah had gathered his family on the staircase as everybody quietened down and turned to the attention towards them

"Welcome, thanking you for joining us, you know, whenever my mother brings our family together like this, it's tradition to commence with a dance" he started

I noticed Esther walking down the stairs as he started his speech looking around the room as she so I looked to see Stefan and Damon had also spotted her but turned back towards Elijah as he spoke

"Tonight's pick is a century old waltzes so if you could all please find yourself a partner, please join us in the ballroom," he said as he and his family walked downstairs

I sighed turning and walking towards the ballroom but before I could walk anywhere Kol appeared in front of me with a smirk

"Now don't you look ravishing," he said smirking

I couldn't stop the blush that covered my cheeks, "thanks, I don't know what I would have worn if it hadn't been for you" I admitted

leaning into me, "I'm sure if you had worn a paper bag you still would have looked stunning" he said pulling back with a smile

"not that I ever would go that far but I appreciate the complement" I said

he held out his arm, "I would love it if I could have this first dance" he said

I smiled at his taking his arm as we walked into the ballroom getting into position for the dance before the music started and we started to dance

as we go into the dance Kol got a look on, "what afraid I'll step on your toes" I teased

"why didn't you tell me about your son with Damon and that you lost him" he asked

I felt shock go through me, "huh...I... um how did you know about that" I asked as the dance started properly

a smiled crossed, " Mayor Lockwood is a gossip but I guess she thought we knew already" he said

"I guess it just never came up not something I like to talk about, it's just a sore subject right now" I said

"I'll always be here to talk when your ready I promise I won't judge but maybe it's sore because of Damon I mean come on the guy is an ass" he asked

I rolled my eyes as I laughed, "he's not as bad when you really know him, he was really there for me while I was pregnant and as those final hours before you know" I said

"you defend him even though he's in love with Elena and has been for a long time now" he said

I sigh, "Elena is my sister and I love her but she's not Katherine okay she care's about both of them a lot she's not cure and cold that she would hurt them intentionally" I said

"I believe that you love your sister but how do you know she's nothing like Katherine" he asked

"because we have there for each other every step of the way and she doesn't have a cold hearted bone in her body despite what your family may think" I said with a serious look

"I get it I do she's your family and you know her better than I do" he said

we smiled at each other, "your not a bad dancer miss Gilbert he said

smirking, "well I happen to have training I happen to be the previous Miss Mystic Falls" I said in defence

he smirked, "I know" he said pushing me back twirling me around as I landed in the arms of Klaus
