Surprise Reunion.

I had finally arrived back in Mystic Falls and as I drove into the driveway I noticed there were no lights on or even a shimmering light from the TV, I looked at the time to see it was only half nine

I got out of my car making sure to lock it before taking out my phone to call Jeremy but all I got was voicemail so I tired Elena next

beep beep beep beep beep beep beep

"Hey it's Elena you know what to do," her voice said

Beep

"Hey Elena it's me, I'm at home but your obviously not sorry I didn't tell you I was coming home today I wanted it to be a surprise where are you guys, call me you get this love you" I said hanging up

I sighed putting phone in my pocket and unlocking the boot before grabbing my bags and making my way into the house locking the car as I went inside noticing nothing had changed

I dropped my bags to the side and flicked on the lights throwing my keys on the table next to the door before making my way over to the sofa flopping myself down before closing my eyes

I must have dozed off not long after because the next thing I know I hear the door opening and I opened my eyes jumping up to see both Jeremy and Elena walk through the door

as soon as they walking to the house they realized the lights were on before looking around in alarm until they noticed me and surprised looked came across their faces

I didn't know what to say or how to react but the fact they had been out this late had worried me, "where the hell have you been, do you have any idea what time it is" I asked

they looked at each other having a silent conversation then looked back to me, " it was senior prank night at school we would have left a note but we didn't know you were coming back today" Elena said

I rolled my eyes, "I called you Elena hours ago, I was starting to get real worried" I said

"come on sis give us a break, we didn't even know you were coming home today" Jeremy said before closing the door properly

"well you would have either of you had answered your phone" I said with frustration

Jeremy groaned, "well we've both been a bit pre occupied tonight" he said

before I could say another word I caught sight of Elena's neck, "when the hell did that happen" I shouted rushing over and placing my hand gently on her neck looking at the bruise

she must must have been surprised I'd noticed it and pushed me away, "stop it, it's nothing he didn't mean it" she said

I took a step back looking at her in shock, "what do you me he Elena, he who" I asked

she looked away from me not saying a word and in an instant it made me realize who she was talking about which mean Stefan must be home and off the rails big time

"please don't tell me that Stefan did this to you" I asked in disbelief

she sighed, "it wasn't his fault Klaus compelled him to turn off his emotions and drink from me but he wouldn't have done it otherwise Elly you know he wouldn't" she said pleading with me

I didn't know what to say, "I heard about the attack up and down the seaboard but I never though it was fine, I can't believe your defending him right now" I said

"tears welled in her eyes, "it's not Stefan and you know it we just need to get him to get his humanity back, we can't give up on him Elly we just can't" she said

"he's a ripper look at what he's done tonight he's not going to want to turn it on Elena and he's just gonna hurt you more than he already has" I said

Elena shaking her head, "no....no I don't believe that we just need to fight for him, make him turn it back on" she said

"stop it Elena we can't so just stop fighting this and accept it for it really is" I exclaimed

tear ran down her cheeks, " I can't stop fighting for him Elly, I won't give up on him I mean would you if this was Fred or James" she asked

I looked down, "this is a completely different situation Elena and yes I loved him more than anything so if there could have been a way to save him then yes I would in a heartbeat" I admitted

"then you understand why I just can't give up on, he can't get his emotions back we just to push him the right way" she said

I snapped my head to her, "Elena this is different okay he has not emotions which makes him more dangerous and he could get cocky so let Damon handle him and keep well away" I warned

she looked hurt, "but what you just said" she said

I sighed, "was true but Fred was human and didn't have his emotions off which make this completely different" I said

her tears just kept falling, "so you just want me to give up on him let Klaus win" she whispered

I took her hand, "your not giving up Elena or letting Klaus win, just let Damon deal with his brother " said

she pulled her hand from mine and walked upstairs towards her room without saying another word once she was out of sight I turned to Jeremy who had kept quiet through it all

"do you think I was wrong telling her to take a back seat from all of this" I asked him

he hesitated shaking his head, " Elena is gonna get involved weather you approve or not right" he asked

I nodded, "yeah I figured as much but in a way I kind of get it, I would have done anything if it were Fred" I said

"so why did you tell her not to get involved and to give up on Stefan" he asked

"because I know he's gonna do everything in his power to make her hate him for all of us to give up on him" I said

he looked confused, "how do you know that" he asked

I gave him a pointed look, "he's just killed hundreds of people trying to convince Klaus he was loyal to him but when he finally came home he did the exact opposite" I explained

"but how do you know he's gonna do everything he can to make her give up on him" he asked

"he doesn't want the feel the guilt and the pain he knows he'll feel when he turns it on, he doesn't want Elena to waste her life away on him" I explained

"how can you know all of this, it sounds like you have been through something similar" Jeremy asked

let's just say Fred wasn't my first love and leave it at that" I said

Jeremy eyes winded and surprises crossed his face but nodded anyway, "she'll come around she just doesn't want to feel defeated" he said

"can I ask what made you want to come home, you could have stayed in London and saved your self all this heartache" he asked

I sighed, "I thought about it but as much as I love my birth family it was always a second home and Mystic Fall was were my heart lied with you and Elena" I said

he nodded bringing me in for a hug as I sighed and hugged him back taking in his homely scent, "I'm so glad your home El" he said and pulled me back

I smiled, "me too so hopefully this time round thing we be better" I said as he laughed

"yeah somehow I doubt that but your here and that's so much better" he said

I smiled and squeezed his shoulder before going upstairs with him following me before going out separate room and closing the door behind me.
