Chapter 8: Hope

"Sayori, I-I like you too." I stuttered. Sayori smiles and blushes at my response. She runs to me and pulled me in a warm embrace. I smile as well. This means I could spend more time with Sayori. Being with her.. makes me happy. Sayori and I let go.

"I'm happy you feel the same way, Mike! Now you'll be mine forever!" She said excitedly jumping around. I giggle at what she said. I hold her hand and we make our way back home.

"So Sayori.." I say.

"Hm?" She responds.

"Do you want to keep this a secret, or let everyone know?" I ask.

"Why? Do you not want to show our affection for each other?" Sayori asks looking sad.

I respond nervously, " W-What n-no! I just meant like would it be a good t-time you know?" Sayori giggles.

"I was just kidding, but yeah let's wait for a little bit. I'll let you know ok?" She answers. I sigh in relief and nod. Eventually, we arrived back home and we stop.

"I'll see you tomorrow Mike!" Sayori says as she kisses my cheek and ran off happily to inside her house. I blush and head back in mine.

Natsuki gets up from the couch and comes up to me. "Hey, Mike! Why are you late coming home?" She asks.

"I and Sayori had to uh.. talk about something important," I answer.

"Oh, I bet it was." She says as she winked at me and went upstairs. I don't think she knows, does she? Anyway, I should probably go back out to get food supplies.

"Natsuki I'll be right back I have to get food supplies!" I yell.

"Okay! Be careful!" She answers yelling. I make my way back out and walk to the store. I went inside and got all the stuff we need to make food for breakfast and such. I walk out of the store.

"Hey, Mike." Someone says. I look to see Monika.

"Oh hey, Monika, what's up?" I ask her.

"I need to tell you something, let's go sit somewhere where it's quiet and no one around." She says. I nod and I follow her. We sit on a bench and I put all the bags of supplies by my feet. There's really no one around us.

"Mike, we are getting closer and closer to the end. We need a plan to escape this game along with everyone else." Monika says to me. Now that I think about it, I did say we can try getting out the way she got me.

"What about the way you got me here, can't you do the same but reversed?" I ask. She sighs.

"Well not necessarily, it was really risky to do it. I'm lucky to be alive honestly." Monika answers. Dang, is it really that hard to get in contact with the real world?

"Mike.." Monika says my name as I look at her.

"I'm going to need your help with escaping." She said. I look at her confused.

"How can I help? I'm just a guy who got pulled into some video game." I ask.

"As I said before, you have a gift, it's almost time to use it. Just gotta wait for the perfect moment." Monika says.

"What is this gift?" I ask her.

"I'll have to tell you after the festival, okay?" She responds. I nod.

"So, when the time comes we need to go to the space room and exit out from there into some kind of secret door. But I can't open the door without your help." Monika says.

I guess that's when my so-called 'gift' comes in. Monika stands up.

"Tomorrow we are also going to be preparing for the festival. Make sure to get your materials." Monika says as she gave me her phone number.

"Call me if you need anything, see you tomorrow Mike!" She said smiling at me and walked away. I hope I don't die trying to escape this game. Although, I'm gonna miss this world... The sky is orange, looks like it's getting late. I grab my bags and head home. After reaching my house I go in and unpack in the kitchen. Straight after I make dinner. I made some mac n' cheese. I haven't had this in a while.

I let Natsuki know that I'm done and we eat. After, I check the time it is 7:25 PM. I guess I can sleep early. I head upstairs to my room and lay down. Tomorrow I gotta help with preparing so it's good to get some rest. I doze off falling to sleep.

I wake up to an alarm. I sit up to see it's 7:00 a.m. I stretch and start to head down the stairs until suddenly I feel an aching pain in my chest and arms.

"Ah..!" The pain makes me trip and fall to the hard floor. Natsuki comes rushing downstairs to me. This pain feels like I'm getting ripped apart.

"Are you ok Mike!?" She says concerned. She looks at my arms and sees that it's faded.

"H-h-help me.. get M-monika.." I say as I reach my hand out to Natsuki.

"Don't worry Mike, I'll get her just stay with me!" She says as she holds onto my faded hand. I should of went to Monika sooner.

"I can't.. k-keep.. my eyes.. o-open..." I say as my eyes close falling unconscious in pain.
