"When he loves, he loves completely."

"Ughh...it's really cold. That's February for you." Bright entered the staff room after school wearing a suit, and flashed a broad smile at Gulf. "Oh, you're still here, Gulf?"

"Just about to leave," Gulf replied.

"Hey, Gulf, wanna go eat hot pot together?!" Bright offered. "C'mon let's go!"

"Just the two of us?" Gulf asked meaningfully.

"There's nothing wrong with two guys going out to eat together once in a while?" Bright said, pouting to hide his embarrassment.

"But won't your girlfriend be mad if she finds out you're going out alone with your ex?" Gulf teased.

"Nooo!" Bright declared. "She always understands me. To a frightening degree."

"Wow, she can even make you afraid of her?" Gulf said, laughing. "It's been a long time since I had hot pot."

"See? See? Let's go!" Bright urged childishly.

"Ah, that was good!" Gulf said, and rubbed his hands together, satisfied. "Hot pot is so great...it warms you from the inside out."

The inside of the restaurant was warm too, filled with steam.

"Now for the coup de grace! Rice gruel!" Bright said, even though he had eaten way too much already. He was totally in hot pot mode, and slurped down the broth left in the pot.

"You're gonna make a great husband, Bright," Gulf said teasingly. He looked at the clock on the wall. It was almost ten o'clock at night. He glanced at the cellphone in his pocket, not knowing what he should do.

"Um, Bright."

"It's done! Eat up!" Bright thrust a small bowl filled with rice gruel in front of Gulf.

Gulf was just about to reluctantly start eating when his cellphone went off. It was Mew.

"Sorry," Gulf said, and quickly stood up.

"Take your time," Bright said, slightly annoyed. But he watched Gulf walk away with a grin on his face.

Mew called Gulf every night at ten o'clock. He used his break during work to call Gulf, and although they couldn't talk for very long. It was essential time together for both of them. Gulf didn't want to disturb amyone in the restaurant with his phone call, so he prepared himself against the cold and went outside. The breath that he exhaled was pure white.

Finally, he pressed the call button. "Hello?"

"Ah, Gulf?" Mew greeted. "Is it cold there too? It's sooo cold here."

"The wind stings a lot," Gulf replied. "It looks like it's gonna snow too."

Mew immediately went into worry mode. "Are you outside?"

Why? Shouldn't he be in his apartment?

"Bright invited me out to eat hot pot," Gulf said.

"Teach Bright? Hmmm. You two aren't alone, are you?" Mew couldn't hide the instant jealousy in his voice.

Gulf laughed. "You don't have anything to worry about. How's it going at work?"

"Um, about that..." Mew hesitated. "I'm really sorry, but my boss and I can't have Valentine's Day off."

"That's what I thought," Gulf said with a sigh. "It'll probably be really busy at the cafe that night."

"I begged him to let me off," Mew said, "but we're short staffed so he said no way."

"We'll there's nothing we can do about it," Gulf said. "But didn't he say he was gonna give you a raise soon?"

Mew's voice perked up immediately. "Yeah, because I've been working so hard, he said."

"So you can't complain then," Gulf pointed out. "You're saving up for a car and everything."

"Yeah..." Mew sighed. "I'm really sorry we can't spend Valentine's Day together though, Gulf."

"If it wasn't on a weekday this year, I would've come to see you though..." Gulf said.

"Whaaaaat?!" Mew squawked.

"Why arw you so surprised?" Gulf asked amused.

"B-B-Because," Mew stammered. "I thought my heart was gonna stop beating!"

"You're so weird, Mew," Gulf remarked.

"I'm sorry," Mew said. "But just hearing that makes me happy. Thanks, Gulf."

"Mew, isn't your break over now?" Gulf reminded him.

"Un, oh, crap!" Mew exclaimed. "Bye, Gulf, I'll call you later!'

"Don't work too hard, okay?" Gulf said.

"Okay," Mew replied. "Don't go home too late, Gulf."

"I know," Gulf said.

"Bye," Mew whispered.

"Bye." Gulf hung up the phone, blushing a bit at Mew's jealousy.

He returned to the restaurant feeling a little disappointed that they wouldn't be able to see each other in Valentine's Day.
