Chapter Twenty-One

Is my eyes playing tricks on me?

My mind was going 100 miles per hour thinking of who the fuck could be texting Vinnie this weird text.

My family is leaving in 2 days and things are still getting worse by the second. I needed to know what was going on in Vinnie's life and I needed to know now!

I put my shoes on and ran down the stairs hoping to catch Vinnie before he left for the store.

Before I could make it across their garage pavement I was stopped by Mr.Mars.

"Oh well good morning Kensley" he says while shining his red Corvette.

"Oh hi Mr.Mars I didn't see you there, hows your morning?" Mr. Mars made me very nervous.

"Oh just out shining the beauty" he smirked.

Leaning on his car with his arms crossed he stared at me for awhile. He seen the nervousness in my face and spoke.

"You know Kensley in my field of work you get to see everything the world is not able to view."

"I- I'm not understanding?" I say while scrunching my eyes from the sun.

What the fuck is he talking about?

"Well look at it this way you think you're above but there will always be someone two steps higher" he says narcissistically.

Nigga what?

"I still don't understand what you're getting at, I just need to give Vinnie his phone." I started walking towards the front door till he spoke.

I was so weirded out by his comment.

"Vinnie and Daniel had to leave for the office, Important company stuff." He says smiling

Great now I have to go grab the plan B pill. I wonder if my mama would pick it up for me?

"You can leave it with me" he says.

"No that's okay I'll give it to him when I see him later." I smiled back so he wouldn't question my decision.

"Have a nice day Mr.Mars" turning around to walk away.

"You too- Oh and Kensley you should get some blinds for your bedroom. You don't want no one looking in now do ya?"

"Yeah no I don't uh-Thanks"

Without turning around to acknowledge his creepy suggestions. I rolled my eyes and kept walking back to my house.

Walking back in my mama car pulled up as well.

My mama, Breonna and Branson got out the car.

"Now where did y'all go?" I asked with my arms crossed.

"Hey girl" Breonna says smiling

Branson didn't even look at me.

My mama answered for the three of them "You was knocked out when we checked on you and you don't get much sleep so we thought to let you rest. We just went to the brunch spot down the way" she says walking in the house with the rest.

"Mhmm" I mumbled

"Girl who mama is you?" She says laughing.

"I'm kidding, but mama can I ask you to do something for me please?" I looked to see if Breonna and Branson was in the room.

"What's that baby?" She says putting her leftovers in the fridge.

Tapping my finger on the counter "Can you grab me a Plan B pill?"

She turned around with her eyebrows raised in shock. My mama is not much of a discipline type or belittle you in anyway.

"Kensley you're having sex?" She asked with a shocked face.

"Yes mama, it happened" I nervously said.

"With Vinnie?" She asked walking to the counter.

"Mhm" I nodded my head yes.

"Wow okay, I mean you're grown so you're going to do what you want, but baby why didn't you use protection?"

"It was a slip up Ma" I said with my hands on my head in disbelief.

"Okay and I do understand and can't get upset with you because you was a result to a broken condom" she says looking to the side.

Wait what did she just say?

"Hold up what?" I looked up at her in disbelief of what she just said.

"Oh nothing now, love you baby I'll run to the pharmacy for you" she kissed my head and walked out the door.

She is so wrong for that!

I wanted to talk to Branson about last night, I knew he was only looking out for me.

Walking up the stairs to his room, I knocked on his door.

"Come in" he says without turning around from his desk.

"Whatcha doing?" I asked twirling my hands.

"Just system updates" I knew he didn't want to speak to me.

"Damn another porn site gave you a virus bug?" I jokingly laughed to lighten the moment.

It was dead silence, so I sat on his bed that was next to his desk.

Clearing my throat "Buba please understand where I was coming from!" looking at him from his side.

He signed "I do understand where you were coming from Kensley. I- I just... never mind" he says.

"No what we're you going to say?"

"Why so you can get upset and threaten to fire me again? I work so hard to make sure no one crosses you Kensley! Why can't you see that?" His voice was raised and cracking with anger.

"Okay Branson I know and I appreciate all you do. I've never taken you for granted. Please accept my apology and know my feelings was just looking out for the both of us." leaning in trying to observe how he was feeling.

Branson looked at me "Okay I accept it and I'm sorry as well, but in all honesty I don't trust that family Kensley" he says seriously.

"Thank you and Neither do I" I couldn't believe my words and Branson was shocked as well.

"Really?" He asked.

"Yeah long story, but I need your help"

"Okay spill" he says.

"Mr.Mars I feel is the creepiest and sneakiest person, he gives complete chills. Is there anyway you can hack into his computer from their home wifi or however you do it?"

Branson face lit up "Can I? I can do that in my sleep, home access is the easiest one to hack."

"Okay cool, I need you to do this tonight. I'll be out but it's important you find all you can."

"Okay Bet" he says rubbing his hands.

"This also has to stay between us Buba! no one can know what we're up to and please be careful. This family has some dark secrets that we don't know about."

But we will soon, even if i have to take Vinnie down as well.
