Elena looked down at her phone for the fifteenth time in three minutes. Her cousin Carlos was late picking her up. They were meant to be travelling to his last three races of the season together, yet the racing driver was 30 minutes late. The teen huffed as she sunk further into the couch. She hated waiting.
"You know if he doesn't show up in the next five minutes you can just stay at home!" called out Makhyli from the kitchen. Her statement was followed by a loud yes from Lillian.
"No, Khyli. And you're only saying that because you don't want to be stuck here with Ruby and her mean ass boyfriend." The three other girls rolled their eyes at the realization that she had caught onto their plan.
None of the girls liked Connor, Ruby's boyfriend, as he was rude and a little shit head. The boy had invited himself over for the week after hearing that Elena, his greatest rival, would be absent, much to the disappointment of the other housemates.
"Listen. Whenever he is around Khyli can't paint because he complains about the fumes, Lily can't stream because apparently she's too loud, I can't study because he plays loud music and Ruby loses the ability to think because she's under his spell. You're the only one he doesn't bother because he's afraid of you. " Queenie was beyond pissed that Connor would be around when Elena wouldn't be there to call him out on his behaviour.
"He's only afraid of what I could do to his career. " Connor was in F4 and knew that Elena had strong ties with the motorsport community, so he did everything to avoid pissing her off. Which was useless as his mere presence made her skin itch.
Before the girls could say anything else a loud honk was heard from outside. The girls helped Elena gather her bags while Queenie went to give Carlos a piece of her mind. "First of all you're late. Number two you can't just come here and honk for her to come outside, we are not a drive through. Number three you better get a podium to compensate for taking our friend when we needed her the most." The Asian girl was small but mighty and Carlos was beyond amused by her attitude.
He quickly apologised to his cousin and her housemates while putting her bags in the trunk. "Come on Ellie we're late already." At his words Elena quickly hugged her friends goodbye and got in the car.
As she put on her seat belt she reminded Carlos that he was the reason behind them being late. Thus starting a conversation where Elena listed all the times he was late and he gave reasons as to why he was late every time. By the time they arrived at the airport Carlos had made an agreement with Elena, if she didn't tell his dad that he was late again he would give her his black card while they were in Abu Dhabi. She'd agreed only because she needed new outfits for Christmas and New Years eve.
The two members of the Sainz family had boarded a private jet, with only the two of them on board, as Carlos would be arriving in Bahrain one day before his team.
Once they had landed the two got into Carlos' hired McLaren and made their way to the hotel. Elena was knackered so she declined her cousin's offer for dinner with the other drivers who had already arrived.
