A few more days passed by before Charlie had gotten any word from the police or the hospital. It was the Monday after the bonfire when Chief Swan called Emily's house phone to get into contact with Charlie. Surprisingly they were able to find quite a bit of information about the life he had supposedly lived before he somehow ended in the middle of the forest. So Monday afternoon Paul drove Charlie down to the police station to get the information they had found. He was rather curious about what it could be. When they pulled into the parking lot, Paul turned off the truck and was about to get out when he noticed that Charlie hadn't moved."What's wrong?" Paul turned to face towards his imprint. "Aren't you excited to know about your life? I mean you don't even know how old you are." He joked.
"It's just.." Charlie paused unsure what to say. He already decided that it was best to not bring up his past lives to anyone in the pack. There was no reason to bring it up in his opinion. Nothing would come out of it and the pack would just look at him strangely. "What if I don't like who I was before this?"
"I don't think you would be dramatically different then you are now." Paul smiled before putting a hand on his leg. "No matter who you were. You will always be this person to me. Okay?"
"Okay.." Charlie smiled after a moment before unclipping his seat belt.
The pair left the car and walked into the station. Paul held open the door for Charlie which caused him to flash a bright smile at the taller male. The heating system of the building hit Charlie as soon as they walked in which was a welcomed warmth with the chilly weather outside.
"We are here to see Chief Swan" Charlie said as he walked up to the receptionist desk with a small sheepish grin.
"Charlie right?" The receptionist smiled as she picked up the phone. Charlie nodded his eyes a bit unsure if she was talking about his name or Charlie Swans name. "Chief Charlie is here for you...okay" she then put down the phone and smiled at him "you two can go into his office" she said as pointing down the hall.
Charlie thanked her before walking down in the direction she had pointed him in. Paul following closely behind his imprint. After knocking on the door, the two of them walked in and sat down in the chairs that were in front of the desk.
"Hey sorry it took so long. With the animal attacks and missing people in Seattle, it's been a nightmare." Charlie Swan said as he shifted through a pile of paper work before pulling out a file. He leaned over and set it in front of Charlie. "Charles Andrew Max, 24 years old, multimillionaire" he said.
"I'm sorry multi-what?" Charlie questioned as he quickly picked up the file and flipped through the papers.
"I was surprised too." The Chief chuckled as he leaned back in his chair. "You were apparently orphaned at the age of 16 and inherited all of your parents money. The companies they owned were sold off at your request. A day before you were found by Sam and the others, you actually moved into the house on the boarder of La Push and Forks. The address is in that file." He said.
"Wow this is a lot of information.." Charlie mumbled to himself as he flipped through the file. When they found information, he expected to learn the new bodies age and name and maybe family. Not finding out this guy was a multimillionaire. Funnily enough his name was basically the same as his first life and his age was the same as well. "Thank you so much Chief Swan. It's more information then I had a week ago."
"I'm glad we could help out anyway that we could." Chief Swan shook Charlie's hand.
Charlie nodded towards Paul before leaving the room. He didn't stop until they were outside of the building and had basically made a bee line to the beat up truck that the pair had taken. He was only stopped when Paul grabbed his arm and spun him around, pulling Charlie to his chest. Charlie took a deep breath to calm himself down. This body had just as much anxiety as his first body did.
"Hey are you okay?" Paul asked searching his eyes for any negative emotions. "Finding out your parents are dead has to be hard."
"I don't remember them so I don't.." Charlie let out a sigh as his body relaxed against Paul's. "Is it bad I don't have any emotions towards knowing I don't have any family? It kind of makes me feel like a psychopath."
"Well you are 24 and this happened when you were 16. That's eight years to grieve and come to terms with it. Plus you don't remember them and you don't know what kind of people they were. They could have been terrible people." Paul said as he moved to put his hands on Charlie's cheeks. "Besides you do have family. The pack is your family now."
"Your right.." Charlie let out a breath he didn't realize he was holding before smiling up at Paul. "Do you want to come with me to see what this house is like?"
"Hell yeah let's go" Paul grinned before leaving his side and walked around the truck to get inside. "Let me see the address."
~~~
It was about a ten minute drive to the address. When Paul finally pulled into what looked like a driveway, Charlie sat up and tried to lean forward to see the house. It was perfectly tucked away from the world in the tall trees of the forest. Honestly it looked like the area he woke up in the week before. If it was then that meant he walked the complete opposite way instead of just simply finding this house waiting for him. Which wouldn't surprise him at all. It was just his luck. Paul pulled into a spot next to a blue jeep that was already sitting in the drive way. This life really did seem to leave him with everything he would need to survive. He was grateful for that and hope that he would be able to live here long enough to actually enjoy it.
"Your house is all on pack land. Which is great." Paul spoke up first as he turned off the trucks engine. "The treaty line is about a mile that way." He nodded off to the side, the way they had came from towards Forks.
"Well at least I know I'll have the Packs protection when I move back in here. Maybe you could stay with me. I know you try to stay away from your dad's as much as you can." Charlie said as he clicked off his seatbelt and climbed out of the truck.
Charlie jogged up the steps and to the front door. He grabbed the handle and luckily, this body didn't see the need to lock his door. The door opened with ease and the pair walked inside to see empty boxes scattered around the living room and kitchen area, showing that the body had in fact just moved in before his soul took over and woke up in the forest. His eyes traveled the open space until they landed on the granite countertop of the kitchen. Sitting there was a leather wallet, what looked like the newest model of cell phone and a set of keys. Charlie walked over and skimmed his wallet for a moment before going through his phone. Thankfully the body had all his important passwords on his notes that were locked with his finger print.
"Smart man.." Charlie whispered to himself as he skimmed through the information.
"What?" Paul asked looking at him.
"I wrote down all my passwords." Charlie said waving the phone towards Paul. "So I can access the millions of dollars I apparently have."
"That's good." Paul chuckled. He opened his mouth about to say something else when a howl was heard from the forest. Paul looked conflicted about rather or not he should leave his imprint alone.
"Go on. I'm going to stay here and just deal with this stuff. You can come back whenever your done." Charlie smiled at him.
"Here let me right down Emily's and my number for you." Paul grabbed the pad of paper that had been resting on an end table in the living room. He quickly wrote down the two numbers before placing a kiss on his cheek. "Call if you need anything." With that, Paul rushed out of the house.
Letting out a loud sigh, Charlie fell back against the leather couch in the living room. It was the first time since he woke up that he was getting some alone time. Sure he had alone time as he slept but there was no pack or anyone within a mile of him. It was the perfect time to get his emotions in check. A part of him still hurt from his time in the 'Merlin' universe. How could it not? If he thought about it for to long, all of his past lives still effected him. He would still get random memories of Jefferson or the Winchesters or anything that happened in Camelot. Everytime he died, most of the attachment he had felt, was left behind but the memories stayed with him. He was actually concerned about being some type of psychopath with how quickly his didn't feel anything about his past lives. But he does feel, he does grow attachment to people in each of his lives. It wasn't like he could ask someone about it. Maybe at the end of his lives there will be someone to handle all of his questions. But for now, he would have to just try his best with what he had been given.
