"How can you be so foolish!" Charlie jerked awake when she heard the door open and close with Gaius' loud voice entering the room. During the time she had waited for the pair she had fallen asleep.
"He needed to be taught a lesson" Merlin answered then stopped when he saw Charlie sitting at the table. He wanted to ask her why she was there or even if she was okay from being handled so roughly but he was to angry to say anything. He stormed past her and into his room.
"Charlotte what are you doing here?" Gaius asked.
"I was there when the fight happened. I wanted to make sure he was okay" Charlie whispered looking over to the door. "Can I speak with him? Maybe clean his wounds for you?" Charlie asked looking back at Gaius.
"You don't know anything about cleaning wounds" Gaius smirked. "I'll clean them and you can speak with him after."
Charlie nodded and sat back down waiting for Gaius to finish with treating Merlin. Honestly she did know how to clean a wound because of her time in the supernatural universe but she couldn't tell Gaius that, it would just make him confused and probably concerned about her mental health. So she sat there playing with her fingers thinking about what she was going to say to Merlin. She was so confident in herself when she snuck away from the fight to beat them here but now she wasn't so sure. Should she face Merlin and tell him she knew about his powers? Should she tell him everything? Telling him mostly the truth would seemingly be the best outcome to this conversation. He would gain a bit of confidence and wouldn't be questioning if he was a freak or not for being born with his powers. He's meant to change the world and of course she wont tell him to much but she should tell him a bit. Because she was deep in thought she didn't even notice Gaius leave his room until he walked over and put a hand on her shoulder.
"Go on and talk to him. I think he needs your kind heart right now." Gaius said. Charlie nodded and walked up to the door.
"Merlin, I'm coming in" Charlie knocked softly before walking into his room and blushing slightly as she had forgotten that he had been shirtless. She walked over and sat next to him.
"Are you okay?" Merlin asked before she got a word out. Charlie blinked confused at his statement.
"You were just in a fight with my brother and you are asking me if I'm okay?" Charlie asked with a soft giggle and a very confused grin.
"That knight was holding you pretty tightly in the street earlier. Did it leave a bruise or anything?" Merlin asked moving the sleeve of her dress up slightly and noted a large area starting to bruise. "That..prat!" That made Charlie giggle and Merlin chuckled softly as well before becoming serious. "But he shouldn't have held you so tightly. Did you tell anyone?"
"No no" Charlie shook her head and moved her sleeve down. "Liam is the son of one of my fathers most trusted knights. No one would believe me" Charlie allowed her mouth to run on it's own without thinking. It was one thing she learned to do while world jumping. Her souls knew what to do if she allowed them to take control. She still struggled with it a lot but sometimes it was so easy that she didn't even realize it was happening.
"You are the princess" Merlin said confused.
"Yes princESS" Charlie spoke softly. "I'm a woman. My words mean almost nothing to my father, even if I am his daughter." She smiled weakly before shaking her head. "This isn't what I came here to speak to you about." She said turning towards Merlin. Tell him about you world jumping. He'll understand. "I saw what you did during the fight against my brother. I saw you use magic" IDIOT
"...what?" Merlin asked surprised and clearly very very nervous "No...no you must be seeing things!" He tried to play it off "it was the wind.."
"The wind turned your eyed golden?" Charlie asked softly looking into Merlin's eyes. "You don't have to worry Merlin, I wont tell anyone. You can trust me" she whispered as she took his hands. "I don't follow my fathers beliefs about all magic being evil. Magic is only evil when an evil person uses it for evil. Magic is neither good or evil its what the person chooses to use it for and I believe you are a good person Merlin"
"Really?" Merlin asked after a few moments of silently looking into Charlie's eyes in shock. Everything she said about magic made his heart beat faster in his chest. She truly believed that magic wasn't evil and it made him have hope for the future. She should be queen in his eyes, she would make an amazing one.
"Of course Merlin." Charlie smiled before standing up. "Don't make me regret putting my trust in you Merlin." She winked before leaving his room.
Charlie wanted to do so much more. She wanted to tell Merlin so much more about who she actually was but that was the only thing she was able to get out. It was as if she was physically unable to tell him the truth about her and her world jumping. She knew that he would learn about the truth about her life at some point. She could feel it but for some reason now was not the time.
Maybe soon.
