The morning light shined through the warn out pink shades that covered the bay window of the master bedroom. The peacefulness was ruined by the loud beeping of an alarm. A long pale arm reached out and slapped off the alarm. The owner of the arm laid unmoving, blinking away the sleep. Her dull gray eyes looked at the red numbers on the alarm clock to see the time.

1:10pm

A soft sigh escape the soft plum lips of the ginger who still laid unmoving in the queen size bed. The ginger struggled for another 20 minutes before she finally sat up and swung her feet to the floor. A soft purring noise came into her room then the a black mass rubbed itself against the slightly hairy legs of his human.

"Morning Gideon" Charlie smiled every so slightly as she reached down and gently pet the black cat at her feet. She pet the feline for a moment longer before standing and leaving the bedroom.

Charlie was 24 and still lived with her mother and younger 16 year old brother. Together they lived in a three bedroom home with two cats. Charlie's mother worked most of the time at the near by hospital as a nurse, her brother spent almost all day on his computer seeing as it was July in North Dakota, and Charlie spent most of her time alone in her bedroom. Charlie got out a few hours a day for work as a waitress at a local cafe.

Charlie rolled her eyes as she could hear the shouting of her brother from the other room. She grabbed herself a water from the fridge and started to walk back to her bedroom when she heard her name being called from down the hall. She turned to see her mother walking out of the bathroom in her scrubs. Charlie's mother, Aubrey, was 47 years old with short brown hair that was graying and beautiful blue eyes.

"I have to work late. Are you going to be okay?" Aubrey looked over at her oldest child. Charlie had recently gotten off of suicide watch that she had been on for the last three months. Charlie has suffered with depression since she was 16.

"I hate being treated like I'm going to break" Charlie sighed annoyingly. She wanted everyone to stop worrying about her. She pretended to get better but really she was still breaking inside. "I'm fine, I have a shift from 5-9 tonight. I'll be fine."

Aubrey looked at her daughter for a moment longer before nodding and leaving the house without another word. Charlie watched as the jeep that her mother drove left the drive way before she let out a soft sigh. She looked at the fridge thinking about eating something before choosing against it and went back to her bedroom with a black feline at her heals.
