Wei Ying bowed back, grinning, actually unable to contain his smile  –  he was way too happy to try to act a part.

- Good day, Shizun!  I am back here to learn, if you'd agree to teach me.

The two boys were bowing to each other, just opposite each other, and at these words and at this precise moment Lan Zhan gasped and lifted his eyes, meeting Wei Ying's devilish look. He went as far as to wink at him lewdly.

Lan Zhan took a step back, unsure about what was happening.

Lan Xichen clapped his hands joyously.

- Excellent!  I will leave you boys to your activities then. Wangji, arrange for some dinner for our guest.  Wei Wuxian will be staying with us for some time. We travelled all day and I am certain he is tired. I will be taking dinner in my chamber, so that you two can catch up.

With these words Lan Xichen left, leaving a very perplexed Lan Wangji behind. His hands were shaking and he just stood there, lost.

Wei Ying knew exactly what was happening, having already seen Lan Wangji in such a state in the cave a month ago, so he took him by the hand and led him into his own room.

- I am guessing this is your room still?  –  he looked around.  –  Yup. Still boring... And where will my room be?  –  he asked merrily, closing the door behind them.

- Wei Ying! What are you doing here???  –  Lan Zhan was finally able to speak some basic words.

- My, my... You don't seem very happy to see me... -  Wei Wuxian looked him up and down critically, raising an eyebrow.

But in his soul he wanted to scream. Lan Zhan looked like a shadow of his own self. He had lost so much weight that the clothes were hanging pitifully from him. His skin had got so thin that Wei Ying could see his pale blue veins clearly, his blood pulsating and rushing through as he was angry now. He was almost transparent. His heart sank. He understood why his elder brother had come to Lotus Pier to beg on his behalf.

- I... I.... – Lan Zhan stuttered. – How...

Wei Ying put a finger across the tall boy's lips and led him to the bed, leaving him there to wonder about recent events. Then he found a servant and gave instructions about several meals that they could share. He had decided that was going to restore Lan Zhan to his former radiance if that was the last thing he'd do.

Lan Zhan was gaping, beyond surprised, at how now people were coming and going, bringing food and bowing to him, Wei Ying circling around him, rummaging in his bag for something, then drinking wine (which was forbidden!!!), and looking at him half-amused, half-concerned.
