Chapter 5:
---
Briefly scaring the girls near to death, Ray and his friends run back to the dorm, with a new cache of weapons safe in Ray's satchel.
Reaching the entrance to the dorm, they see the place deserted. Or, rather, the fields deserted. John and James were out sitting on the curb of the stairs of the tenement dormitory, drinking two cans of soda.
Ray approached them to know more about what happened, while the others attempt to calm their nerves from that surge of adrenaline back there.
---
Ray: "Where is everyone?"
John: "Oh, uh, since we ran out of things to train them, and since we can't really just send them back and forth the obstacle courses because it will piss them off – we sent them back inside the dorm, while others rest inside the barracks we've set up. Unfortunately, it's only a bunch of large tents, so... Yeah, kinda like camping, but outside of your house."
James: "While the others have fun inside, we're out here putting the finishing touches on our military base. Not a lot of people are happy about this, especially Audie and his friends."
John: "Now, what were you doing? And why are you covered in blood?"
*Ray pulls out an M1 Garand, and loads it with a magazine with sport bullets. He then tosses it to John, who was confused why Ray did that.*
Ray: "We got the weapons from Anzu, and the bullets, and the bracelets, and... Look, I'll give the troops fifteen minutes to take a break, but tell them to report outside so I can teach them how to these things work."
Andrew: "It's pretty fun! And pretty nerve wracking. You actually can't feel anything from the neck down, it's as if you're paralysed, but you know you can still move!"
Judas: "Ray here thought to scare the girls by making a skirmish back at the strip garages... We also brought back Bartholomew."
*John stands up, and practiced aiming with the rifle given to him.*
John: "Where is that bastard anyway?"
*Suddenly, a shot rang out from behind them, and a smudge of red dotted door of the dormitory. From behind them, Bartholomew stands with his rifle outwards. He was intentionally aiming at John, to scare him. They all flinch and jerked their attention backwards after he fires.*
James: "Are you insane?! Jesus Christ! You could've...killed John?"
*They noticed the red smudge painted on the wall – it was Bartholomew's bullet who did it.*
Ray: "Told you. Now, let's get some weapons out of my bag. Where's Philip? And the rest? I need them here."
John: "Um...just at the tents behind the dorm. The field is in need of improvement, so... Uh... Yeah."
James: "How much time do we have left before you go, sir?"
Ray: "Perhaps I might pull an all nighter here, but we got a few hours of daylight ahead of us. The sun is still shining, and it's not sinking just yet. So come on! Chop chop! Let's go!"
---
It took only thirty minutes to get the appropriate amount of weapons outside and in the field that'll satisfy the needs of the troopers. Of course, there are the Air Force Branch, and the Navy Branch, and Ray hadn't exactly thought of those two branches just yet – but his reason to train all the men with ranged weapons was "For safety precautions regarding those who want to change branches."
