Chapter 32:
---
Turns out what Cutlass meant with the 'Won't be much sleeping' part was that she talks and snores loudly in her sleep. Indeed, there wasn't much sleeping.
Ray was especially concerned when she was having nightmares, and saying to her nightmares to stay away from her, and leave her alone. Perhaps she's a dream traveler like Ray?
Before he settled into bed with Cutlass, he sent an email over to St. Gloriana's email address, and hopes that the message was sent to the queen soon.
The post that he sent went like:
"This is General Roland Gonzales of the Ooarai Unconventional Army. It's not our official name, but with your help, maybe we could make a better and official one. I want to call in the favour... I ask for you, Queen Darjeeling, or General Michael, or this poor secretary who is reading this, to come back to Ooarai, and assist me with disciplining our men in arms, and help us look more...better in battle. I know you are busy, somewhat, with practices and all, and if you decline this favour, well... I will be upset, but not for a long time. I understand you would be too busy. If you do have the time, however...go back to the port, again, and this time...we shall meet in the battlefield, not as enemies, but friends..."
"Think of it as somewhat of a joint-training exercise. Maybe if you could help us with whatever we need, we could impart our wisdom to you. I'm proved to be an impeccable tactician and strategist, and I'm willing to share my knowledge with you, as you are our friends."
"I will see you at the port, but if not...I respect your decision. "
"Humble regards, Roland 'Ray' Gonzales."
"P.S. Tell Orange Pekoe I said, 'Hi.'"
"P.P.S. Tell Field Marshal Michael I said, 'Hi.'"
The next day after he sent that post, Cutlass slipped away, leaving Ray bewildered and confused. With the only evidence of her stay in the room was a weighed down outline that matches her height, and the open window to where she probably escaped through. She left a note by his nightstand that says, "This never happened. I don't hate you, but let's pretend this didn't happen so no scandal would come out of it. Burn this note afterwards. Signed, 'Fresh Whitebait' Cutlass... P.S. That's my gang name in Donzoko. I do not like it, and I did not pick it myself."
He went true with his words by burning the letter with a lighter, crumbling it, and throwing it in the trash. Prepping himself up for the day with morning tasks, after donning on his First Republic General uniform, he checks his emails, and crosses his fingers to see if St. Gloriana responded.
He was shocked when he sees his message having a reply.
"You are a bold man. I commend you for asking such an improbable task. I did gave you an opportunity to call in a favour, and I suppose this would be a good way to make up for what you did. We shall land on the beaches, Ray... At the outskirts of the town. We shall also land paratroopers in the fields and in the streets. Maybe on or over the hills, but not far away. We shall arrive there first thing in the afternoon, and we shall do our best to impart what needed wisdom you need... In exchange, you will teach us some methods of guerrilla fighting, yes?"
