Chapter 56:

---

Now that the Saunders reinforcements have arrived, and they weren't even close to getting a proper lead to the whereabouts of Andrew, the freshmen, and the scouts, Ray and his army have no choice but to stay and fight.

So far, they have emptied the front yard of its inhabitants, and conquered the lobby of the factory, so the fort is right within their grasp. They've gone too far to lose now.

~~~
After hearing the news of the new Saunders forces arriving, Ray exits the telegraph station, leaving the medic to watch over Sean.
When he goes over to the railing of the catwalk, to look at what they did to the lobby below after taking it over, they have turned it into a place to store their dead and keep their injured safe.
Medics and infantry soldiers flood into the lobby, carrying injured or dead men on stretchers and lay them down on the space provided. For the bodies of Saunders, injured or otherwise, they must've been situated somewhere else; away from the lobby and Ooarai.
~~~

Aside from this segregation thing going on, judging by how the lobby is jammed packed and overcrowded to the point medics have to take caution when walking amongst the 'dead' and injured to properly care for them, Miho's battalion took sufficient damage in the previous fight, and they probably won't last long in the continuation battle due to the enemy reinforcements arriving.

~~~
Disregarding his principle to make things thrilling by not making it easy for himself, Ray pulls out a battery-powered radio from his bag, and attempts to contact Miho, or some of his friends.
However, there is quite a big problem: he has no idea what Miho's frequency is because he was too used to asking Matthew to call her that he didn't ask him what it is.
Fortunately, whispers carried by the wind reveal to him what it was, and after tuning the frequency to that of the Anglerfish Team, Ray establishes contact with her.
---
Ray: "Miho! Miho, come in."
*Miho's panicked voice rattles the receiver. There are gunshots and explosions resonating from the background.*
Miho: "Aghh! Kind of a bad time to call me, Ray!"
Ray: "What's going on outside?"
Miho: "Did no one tell you?! The reinforcements are here! I don't know how long we can hold out much longer! They're angry!"
Ray: "Calm down. If you can, coordinate with Matthew if you could find him, and order some of your men to take defensive positions in the factory. Use the floors and windows to your advantage. I'm gonna find a way myself on how to deal with this."
Miho: "You're not gonna come out here, General?!"
Ray: "I need to come up with a plan that can turn the tide of battle. Besides, exposing me to that much danger would be a bad idea."
Miho: "Okay? Understood, General! Out!"
---
Ray then cuts communications with Miho, confident she will pull through for him, and puts his radio back in his bag.
He leaves the catwalk, and goes into the hallway to his right.
Apart from the ground floor, these halls weren't sufficiently brightened by emergency lights, and instead dim lanterns and candles illuminate the dark corridors.
