Chapter 26:
"So many surprises." I mumbled. "You know you enjoy them. It makes our adventure interesting." Noah replied. "Adventure..so that's what you would like to call it."
"It sounds better than running away to keep our asses alive." Noah shrugged. I just laughed in response. The ride grew quiet after this, like times before. I looked out the window as the radio was turned on. Hours later as it got dark and Noah was a night rider, we stopped alongside the road. "A carnival?" I looked at a strongly lit ferris wheel and heard the buzzing of people. Noah got out and walked around the car, opening the car door for me. He was such a gentleman to me. "Thank you.." I stuttered my words, tripping out onto the pavement. "You're welcome." he straigtened me out, his hands rested on my shoulders. "And yes, a carnival, I thought it would be nice to do something fun." he pulled me in closer to him, his hands on my waist. I let out an uneven laugh, trying to keep my composure. Was it possible for a man to have such an affect on me? He leaned me against the car. I touched his transparent face, gleaming in the dark. "Come on." I whispered and took his hand. He looked disappointed-I teased him. "Stop doing that." he growled as we walked through the entrance, paying for out tickets. We were on the coast, in Rhode island. A small ocean town. Trees bordered the old fashioned fair and the ocean was in view. There was a cool, salty breeze, as it was cold.
"This is beautiful." I said on the miniature ferris wheel, looking out at the ocean. Noah didn't reply so I looked at him. He was staring at with intently, looking deep into my eyes, making me uneasy. "What?" I asked, with a warm smile. "Just thinking." he replied. "I want to know."
"I was thinking how beautiful you are." he looked at me. I gasped and just stared back. I leaned my head against him and closed my eyes. I felt his chest falling up and down, a steady rhythm. Once we got off, we got cotton candy, went on the bumper cars, and the carousel. We sat down on a bench, next to a jukebox with people slow dancing. I curled up on Noah, watching the couples dance. I smiled at the thought of being with Noah. "Would you like to dance?" I heard him ask. I just looked up at him, my head on his lap. He looked down, his hand on the side of my face. "I don't dance." I sighed. It was the truth. I could dance, I chose not to. I always believe I would make a fool out of myself, knowing me. Especially in front of Noah. "Come on." he lifted me up off my feet and onto the ground. "No, please!" I struggled to release from his grip, trying to sit back on the bench. He was too strong. "Damn you."i whispered as he pulled me on the dance floor, starting to sway back and forth. "See, you can dance." Noah whispered. "We'll see about that." I laughed. He placed his hands on my waist and I wrapped my arms around his neck, our heads against each other. The music was soft and slow, a flutist was playing. "I've been thinking." Noah whispered with a low voice. "Yeah?" I responded. "Being here with you. I want to make the most of it."
"We are, this is perfect." I replied with honesty. His hand rubbed up and down my arm and I felt his neck against mine. "And I've decided to take you back to your dad." he said not letting go.
"What?" I took a step back. He held out his arms inviting me, but I stayed put. "The more I'm with you, the more I like you. You deserve to have a dad.". "Six months though.." I tried to figure him out. He confused me sometimes. "Its longer than you think." he shoved his hands into his jean pocket. "Stop..I'm fine." I leaned in to kiss him. He grabbed the side of my neck and kissed me back, with passion. It was getting to heated so I had to stop him. "Noah-see it's fine." I whispered and he nodded, heading to the car. "I love you." he shook his head, and got in.
We didn't have a place to stay so we drove to an overlook of the small town. Laying under the stars with Noah against me. "I love the stars." I broke the silence. Noah was turned towards me, watching me. "That there is the big dipper." he pointed. "I know that one." I recalled from school. School, I had forgot about that. "Do you know any others?" I asked. He pointed out numerous constellations and his voice put me to sleep.
