Chapter 11:

"What are we doing?" I laughed as we got the car. "Just get in." he smirked and opened the door for me. I slid in and he circled around, got in and started the engine. "Seriously, where are we going?" I asked as he pulled out. He turned to look at me. Then, he reached his arms across my body. What the hell was he doing? I heard the snap of the buckle and realized he was just putting my seatbelt on. "I could have done that." I mumbled. He just laughed and stepped on the gas. We made small talk on the way to wherever we were headed and I looked out the window. He turned the music on and one my favorite songs came on. It was "Let it be." by the Beatles. I started humming it involuntarily. Noah smiled and turned to me. "You like this song?" he asked, looking at me with intensity. "Yeah, I mean any Beatles song is amazing." I replied. "Wow." he said. "What, does that surprise you?" I asked. He focused his eyes in the road. "Yeah, not many girls are into them any more. They're all into the new, pop stuff." he shrugged. I laughed hollowly. "What?" he looked at me with a raised eyebrow. "I'm not like the other girls." I said looking out the window, at the passing scenery. Snow was coming down from the dark sky. "I know." he said. I didn't know how to respond. After a while we arrived at our destination. A park. I wasn't prepared! I had on a light long sleeve.

As if reading my thoughts, he slid off his black fleece and placed it in my lap as we parked. He had on a white muscle tee shirt that clung to his body and made me shiver. "You won't be cold?" I asked, pulling it on. He unbuckled and laughed like he usually did, with a silkiness and mysteriousness to it. "I'll be alright." he replied and got out. I followed and looked around. It was beautiful. Mountains were in view, evergreens lined the visible starts of trails, and only a few people were parked. "This is beautiful." I sighed, smelling Noah's warm coat. "This place always seems to take your mind off of things." he said facing the mountains. This was a picturesque moment. The beautiful scenery, The beautiful man, staring out. I laughed to myself, picturing him in an outdoor magazine. He turned to me and raised an eyebrow. "Nothing." I held back a laugh. "Come on then." he motioned me towards him. We started on a trail that winded through the woods. "I used to come here and paint the mountains, the lake, the moon." he said with longing. "About what Denise...I didn't know you didn't want us up there.."I said. "Sorry, I kind of snapped. I had gone up there before my run. I was a little tense." he scratched his neck. "So about your mom.." I lead him on. He turned to look at me. "Yeah she died when I was little. I was nine." he said with a tenderness that made me want to hug him and hold him close. "I'm sorry." I touched his arm. "You went through the same thing, I like that someone knows how it feels." he stopped to look at me. We faced each other, standing in the snow. Noah showed no sign of being cold. "You know, you're the only person I can actually talk to without faking my feelings." I said. There was a pause. "Yeah I have that affect." he grinned. I punched his arm. "You just had to ruin the moment!" I laughed. It was war. I rolled up a snowball and hit him, water dripping down his shirt. He scoffed, looking at me in fake disbelief. "Your going to be sorry." he smirked and from then on, snowballs went flying and a half hour later we were back at the car, soaking wet. We arrived outside my house. "Your right." I said. "About what?" he asked, half grinning. "Going took my mind off of things, thank you." I said. He nodded and I got out. "What should I tell my dad?" I asked, looking at him through the open door with a grin. "That's a tough one, say you got into an extreme snowball war and lost." he smirked. "I won." I crossed my arms. "Lost.." he said and drove away.
