I was moved to a larger hole, with a bigger bed, a bathroom, and a chair to sit on. There was a window about ten feet up and light streamed in, giving me false hope. It was oppressive to know Noah was gone. His face stayed a clear image in my mind, and I hoped it would not fade. I had no idea what I was going to do, but I knew I had to escape. The thought of never seeing him again made me shiver. I sat on the poorly padded chair. I found it surprising I had not heard of night riders before. There were no myths, no movies, nothing about them. They made sure no one knew who they were.

I thought of Noah, and not long ago when I was in his room and we went out into the foggy woods, underneath the moonlight. That was my best memory until the others showed up. Abruptly, the door opened and Sylvester stood there, a gun pointed at me. I stood up slowly and followed him through the empty warehouse corridors until we reached two doors. He opened them, giving me a warning look and I bit my lip, walking into a large room full of high tech gadgets. The aroma of marijuana filled the air and I wanted to gag.

"This is the central station. We do all our work here." he spoke, waving his arms proudly. I remained silent, looking around at all the workers and thieves. "What do you want with me?" I needed to know. I was afraid of an answer. "Simple. You will attract more clients, particularly men." he leered. "What?" I couldn't believe I was now going to be a criminal.

The rest of the day he showed me everything there is to know about being a thief. Not that I paid attention. I was divining a plan to escape. there were four entrances. Four ways in, four out. There were windows too and vents, which seemed plausible. I was returned back to my cell and it was night. I looked up at the stars through my window. I had always been fascinated with stars. The door opened again. I didn't bother looking. This was going to be a regular occurrence. It was Zayne.

"Miss me?" his voice echoed through the room. I didn't reply. I stared at the floor. "Come on, lighten up. You're safe now." he raised an eyebrow and sat next to me, placing his hand under my chin. I avoided eye contact with him as he tried getting my eyes to meet his. "Won't look at me?" he asked in mock offense. "Oh well." he dropped his finger. "Why would you do this?" I asked, shaking my head. "It's all about money these days. My job happens to earn a lot." he acted as if he was innocent. "Get out." I mumbled, my face was feeling hot. "So I take orders from you? interesting." he stood up. I felt his lips kiss my cheek abruptly with force and I winced. "Good night baby." he said and left.

I sat on the cot, a tear escaping my eyes. My life had changed so much since I saw Noah in the classroom, looking out the window. It wasn't all long ago, yet it seemed like a decade. I stood up and leaned against the bare wall. There was a ticking noise and I looked up, to see rain coming down the small window. I stared into the window. I had no idea how long I'd be here, and if I'd ever escape. I ran my fingers through my tangled hair, trying to think clearly. I couldn't. It was going to be a long night.

"Rise and Shine." Zayne stood over me, and I shot up. Mark was standing in the corner. He came over and grabbed my arm. They led me outside into the empty parking lot. The light of the morning sun made me squint my eyes. Sylvester and his gang stood near a few big white vans, talking amongst themselves. As soon as they caught sight of me, they all stood quiet, pointing their guns. They were all menacing looking. "Want

to come along for the ride?" Sylvester gave me a

toothy smile.
