There was a boy, sitting the the far corner of the room, staring out the window at the rain. I couldn't explain the feeling, but I felt myself drawn to him in a way. Walking into the studyhall room, people didn't seem to notice Fishead's highshool's new celebrity. I let out a sigh of relief. I quickly shuffled to the back. I was safe. I dropped my books on a desk and sat, and then realized I was sitting next to that boy. I kept my head down and stared at the scribbles on the desk. I realized I was scribbling random designs on the desk until the teacher called attendance. All we had to say was a simple "here", but I knew that would cause attention. "Annabelle Sage." the old lady called out, raising her eyes curiously. Everyone in the room looked at me and I felt myself sink. The only person who didn't seem to pay attention was that boy. "It's nice to have you Annabelle." the teacher said kindly. "Thank you." I replied avoiding eye contact with my peers. I dared a glance to the boy, who was now looking at me so intently almost with aggression. His eyes were dazzling, gleaming like emeralds. I looked the other way. What was his problem? I quickly directed my attention to the window. The rain brought back the memory of many tears I had shed in the last week. Grief spread throughout me as I stared out the window. It just wasn't my day today. The bell rang and I slowly got up and grabbed my things, heading to my next class. Throughout the day, everyone in the school managed to introduce themselves and I was tired of it. Tomorow they probably wouldn't remember my name. The last bell of the day rang and I was thankful to be returning to the comfort of my house. I walked towards my car until I felt a tap on my shoulder. Probably just another eager person. I didn't make an effort to turn and look, I just kept walking. I was so close! "Hey, I think you left this in studyhall." a silky, yet rough voice spoke. I stopped and turned, intriguied by their voice. It was that boy from my studyhall. He was extremely good looking. "Oh, wow thank you." I said taking it and putting it in my bag. "Your'e sick of this school already aren't you?" he smirked, running his fingers through his choppy dark hair. "No." I lied. He laughed and raised and eyebrow. "No it's just me. I'm not exactly in the right mood to enjoy anything." I admitted. "Well that's a shame." he said, respecting my privacy. "I'm Anna. But you must already know that." I said as the rain kept it's steady stream down, but somehow I didn't care. The parking lot was now full of kids splashing through puddles. "Yeah I knew that, everyone does. I'm Noah Howard." he introduced and I nodded. "Well I'll see you tomorow Noah." I said politely, not knowing what else there really was to say. "Yeah, see you." he said and disappeared. I stood there a second and walked to my jeep, hopping inside. "Wait! Annabelle!" I heard from the other end of the parking lot. I cursed as I sighed and looked out my window to see who wanted my attention now. It was Denise Collins, a nice, shy girl I had met in gym. "Yeah?" I asked and rolled down my window. "Could you drive me to school tomorow? My mom has to leave early for work and I really dont want to ride the bus." she laughed. "Yeah that's no problem. How about 7:30?" I asked. "Thanks, that'd be great." she smiled and I waved goodbye. I had fou d out she lived right down the road from me in another cabin. I turned the key in the ignition and blasted the heat. I was freezing. Two completely opposite thoughts were now invading my mind. Of course my mother and now the conversation with Noah Howard.
