"Phew..." Kuroba heaved a heavy sigh and leaned back in her desk chair "today's finally over."
Even though attending class wasn't a necessity at Hope's Peak Academy, there was always benefit to going to them. You never quite knew what you were gonna learn, and the class teacher certainly had some fun facts for the class on this first day back. One of the DRAWBACKS however, was that classes at Hope's Peak tended to be rather exhausting. There was a lot on information overload over the course of the school hours, given that the teachers were every bit as energetic as the students.
Of courses, not all of the students stayed the whole day. A few of them, most notably Haruhi and Damasu, has stopped going to the lessons after the first lunch break. Haruhi presumably went back to her research lab, and Damasu presumably went to annoy her.
"Looks like it was a successful first day back..." Genji, who sat next to Kuroba in lesson, said to her while he had his face in his DS "I'll bet Keiko and the teacher were happy..."
"You say that, but you've had your head in that game the entire time..." Kuroba observed.
"Animal Crossing is addictive..." he replied apathetically. Kuroba rolled her eyes.
"I get that you've got gamer genes in you, but in all seriousness, do you ever put that thing down?" Kuroba asked "it was your idea to gather the class, but were you even listening to what the teacher was saying?"
"I put it down when I'm riding in a moving vehicle..." Genji replied, equally as apathetic as before "and yes, I was listening."
"Oh? Really? Even during the Maths lesson?" Kuroba smirked "if so, then tell me, what's 9 - 3 ÷ 1/3 + 1?"
"1..." Genji nodded in response.
"If 1 is 4, 2 is 16, and 3 is 64, what would 4 be in the equation?"
"256..."
"What's 8.563 + 4.8292?"
"13.3922..."
"Ok, I stand corrected..." Kuroba surrendered, pleasantly surprised "you're surprisingly diligent Genji..."
"It's kind of like a subconscious thing for me..." Genji admitted "playing games and listening in class is like walking and talking...Like how your brain is focused on talking to whoever it is you're with, but you're still walking forward. It's all subconscious really. Still, it's a unique gift that I have, so I wouldn't recommend it."
"Yeah, it's not right for students to play video games during class," Kuroba sighed "you're lucky you can get away with it here, because it's your talent."
"Technically, it isn't," Genji pointed out "this type of game is more of a hobby than anything else. It's my mom who's the real Ultimate Gamer. My Talent is mainly limited to venues and competitions."
"When you think about it, you live in a fairly harsh world," Kuroba considered "you're a cool guy, totally, but I imagine you've made a lot of enemies in competitions."
"They might see me as an enemy, or a wall they need to climb over, but all I see them as are rivals who just want a little competition," he said, not taking his eyes off the screen "and honestly, I don't want to hear about a harsh world coming from the Ultimate Homicide Detective."
"Touché..." Kuroba smirked. The two sat in silence for a little. During their conversation, Kuroba shuffled up and leant up against Genji, looking over his shoulder at his game.
"What others games are on your roster right now?" Kuroba asked "any events that are upcoming?"
"There's one at this one venue in like...a month," he replied "feel free to stop by if you're not busy."
