Chapter 14

Chapter  14

"Wow, you guys are actually nice to each other today" commented Annaliese as we walked to our homeroom. I smiled at her and nodded.

"Yeah, we solved things while we were working on our project last night" I told her, still smiling. Daniel smiled back, and Annaliese looked at us weird.

"Gosh you guys are stange" she muttered as we turned into the classroom. I laughed, louder than I had meant to, and the whole class turned to look at me. I quickly ducked my head down, everyone shrugged, and I came back up again. We all took our seats just as Mr. Connors walked into the room.

"Good morning class" he said boredly "Please quiet down for the announcements.

"Good morning students. Today is March 14th 2011" said the secretary "Please listen up. The principal is now coming for an update on lost and found."

"Hello students" said the prinipal cheerfully "We have three new items in the lost and found. A blue, digital watch with yellow flowers, a necklace with a red crystal heart, and an old coin." I saw a scared expression rise into Daniel's face as he dug around in his pockets.

My coin isn't here he mouthed to me. My expression also turned to fear as I saw his lips form the words.

"Mr. Connors? The coin is mine, can I go get it?" he asked. Mr. Connors nodded and waved him off and mumbled something about taking someone with him. He signaled me to come with him and I hopped up and scurried out of the room.

"How could you lose your most important possesion??" I shrieked.

"I don't know" he said frantically "I must have got something else out of my pocket and knocked it out!!" We walked a little faster and eventually came to the office.

"Oh, you again. Do you need a new schedule?" she joked. I looked at him with wide eyes and he shrugged.

"No, I came to claim my coin" he said "It's very special to me."

"Oh I'm sorry" she apologized "Someone has already claimed it."
