Chapter 11

I thought that Daniel would be ignoring me, but he spoke to me as soon as I entered the school.

"You've made a big mistake" he hissed as we walked to homeroom together. When we entered the room, he walked up to Mr. Connors and demanded that his seat was switched.

"I'm sorry, but homeroom seats are final." Daniel groaned and practically slammed himself into the seat next to me.

"What's you problem Daniel?" I asked him.

"You are." And he let his head fall to the desk. I sighed and waited for him to apologize, or forgive me. But nothing of the sort occured.

"What a baby" I muttered under my breath. And for the first time since I've known him, Daniel's eyes flashed red.

"Don't call me that" he hissed "You'll be sorry." I rolled my eyes and turned back to Mr. Connors

After homeroom, all three of us had English with Mr. Perkins. While we walked there, Annaliese wanted to do the "Wizard of Oz" thing, but Daniel and I only scowled.

"Wow" murmured Annaliese "Aren't we cheerful today?"

"Shut it Annaliese!" Daniel and I shouted at the same time. And for a second Daniel smiled, but then, remembering our situation, he frowned and looked away. When we reached room 324 for English, Daniel shoved his way to the front and held open the door for Annaliese, and shut it in my face.

What a jerk I thought, and opened the door myself. As soon as the bell rang, Mr. Perkins launched into his lecture of everything boring about English.

"Today we will be talking about sentence structures" he droned. The whole class groaned, and I saw Annaliese whisper something to Daniel. He nodded and pulled out his magic coin. And then, as if by magic, Mr. Perkins' mood changed.

"You know, I changed my mind" he told us "Instead, let's have a dance party." He pulled out a radio, and turned it to a station that actually had good music. I was happy that the lecture wasn't going to last for the whole 45 minutes, but my mood was almost destroyed when I saw Annaliese and Daniel dancing together. I wanted to get back at them, but nobody would want to dance with me. Despite that, I braved asking Simon to dance with me.

"Um, sure" he replied, and I immediatly looked over at Daniel and Annaliese. It seemed as though they had started a competition with us. Annaliese's head was now on Daniel's shoulder. I immeditaly did the same thing.

"What....?" I glared at Simon for a few seconds and then whispered

"Go along with it and I'll never bother you again." He nodded and immediatly shifted into a more comfortable position. I knew Annaliese and Daniel probably wouldn't go any farther, but when I saw them, they were kissing. I was thinking about kissing Simon, but the bell rang. I immediatly stormed up to Annaliese and Daniel.

"What was that about??" I nearly screamed.

"Oh, didn't you hear?" asked Daniel in mock surprise.

"Daniel and I are going out" said Annaliese happily.
