"What-what was the for?" asked Daniel, trying to be angry. I knew he wouldn't want to be angry though. I thought I saw him shrinking just as I was watching.
"Just because" I said with a smile. He tried not to, but I saw the corners of his mouth start to twitch.
"Just because, huh?" he asked "I thought you hated me?" I bit my lip with concern until I saw that he was joking.
"Daniel! You shouldn't joke around like that!" I cried, punching his arm. He rubbed his arm in a mocking way, and began to walk away. I followed him, continually talking his ear off until we reached our class.
The rest of the day passed in complete normality. We even did our "Wizard of Oz" thing once or twice. Overall, it was a pretty average rest of the day. Until that afternoon.
"Juliette, we have that project thing to complete" Daniel said "So I was um wondering if you want to come to my place?" I gasped, it would be the first time Daniel let me come since our fight.
"Sure, if you really want me to" I said quickly. Daniel smiled and led me outside. We found a spot behind a bush and off we went. I still wasn't quite used to the feeling, so I had my eyes closed and I held my breath. I finally breathed when my lungs were bursting, and when I opened my eyes, Daniel was staring at me strangely.
"Um, what were you doing?" he asked. I shrugged my shoulders and began to walk toward the edge of the field. We first stopped for a bite to eat in the town, and then headed off to his "house." When we got there, he led me to a stone staircase which we took up to the second floor. We stepped into Daniel's room.
"Wow, this is amazing" I breathed, when I first saw it. It was at least twice as big as my room and painted blue. There were posters with all the popular bands and a big screen TV and computer. He shrugged like it was nothing and sat down on his water bed.
"Did you bring our supplies?" he asked calmly. I nodded pulling our rough draft and diarama outlines out of my backpack.
"I have a bunch of art supplies in that corner, so you get started on that, and I'll do the essay" he ordered and headed over to the computer.
Once it started getting dark out, Daniel only had the first two paragraphs of his essay done and my diarama was only half finished.
"Oh no!" I cried, immediatley jumping up "My mom will be so worried!!!"
"No she won't" Daniel reassured me "No time passes while you're here, but if you want to go home, you can." Daniel took out his coin and raised it up, only to bring it back down again.
"But I have to ask you one more time" he said "I still need a princess. Will you be mine?" His eyes flashed a devious red. I know this should have been a warning sign, but I was naive to it.
"If it'll make you happy, then yes."
