ugh, writer's block is such a horrific curse

I grimace as the doctor begins wrapping my ankle.

The ice they had pressed against my ankle for a good ten minutes helped to numb it a little, but it's still painful.

I didn't bother explaining what actually happened, just saying I tripped in the yard while I was chasing Oreo.

After wrapping it, they begin applying the plaster for the cast.

I squeeze Clay's hand, him being the one to bring me here.

The other boys didn't want to freak everyone out by saying they needed to end their stream because I needed to go to the hospital; plus, they knew it wasn't a life-threatening injury.

They finish applying the plaster, and they tell me just to stay still for a few minutes while the plaster sets and dries.

The nurse and doctor leave the room, allowing us to have some alone time while the plaster dries.

"Thanks for bringing me.", I mumble, still clinging onto Clay's hand.

"What was the alternative? Leave you out in the yard?", Clay teases, a grin on his face.

"I was trying to be cute and stuff, and you just had to go ruin it.", I groan, playfully pulling my hand away from his.

He snatches it back, almost betrayed that I took it away from him.

"Does it hurt?", he asks softly, staring down at the white cast they've created.

"Little.", I reply, half-telling the truth.

It's shooting bolts of pain through my leg and body, but I don't want to worry him more than I already have.

The nurse comes back in, gently poking at my new cast.

"Here's a boot for when you can start walking. I'd wait about two weeks until you can try the boot to let your ankle heal enough. And here's a pair of crutches for you later. Again, try to stay off of it for two weeks.", she instructs me, handing Clay the boot and the crutches.

Clay helps lower me into a wheelchair before the nurse pushes me towards the door.

A valet brings the car up, and Clay helps me into the passenger seat.

I wave at the nurse as we pull away, glad to finally be leaving the hospital.

"Just be prepared for when we get home.", Clay warns me.

We're only a few minutes from home, but I still give him a confused look.

"They're very worried about you, so I have a feeling that we're going to be swarmed the second I park the car.", he admits with a grin.

Sure enough, I can already see four silhouettes gathered in the doorway.

"Oh God.", I giggle as I can see them scrambling to gather around the car.

As I lean to open the car door, a flurry of words and worried sentiment immediately fill my ears.

"Okay, okay.", Clay holds up his hands, attempting to silence them all.

He hands Alex the crutches before giving George the boot.

"Hey, hey. Oreo.", Karl has to hold the dog back by his collar, Oreo excitedly jumping up on all of us.

Sapnap helps pick me up out of the car, carrying me towards the house.

"Careful!", Alex shields my foot from hitting the doorway.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry.", Sap quickly apologizes.

I shift a little bit, pulling myself up into his arms better.

He tries to set me down on the bed, but I cling onto him tightly.

"Don't leave.", I mumble.

Sapnap chuckles, carefully setting me down on the bed before resting next to me.

Alex follows, setting the crutches propped up next to one of the dressers.

"Finn, you have to keep your leg elevated.", Alex lightly scolds me.

He takes a pillow, propping my ankle up on top of it.

"You need some Tylenol?", Alex asks, producing a bottle of it out of nowhere.

"Yes please.", I gladly take the small pills from him to help ease the pain.

The boys all eventually make their way into the bedroom, the room quiet for longer than usual.

"How were the streams?", I ask, catching Karl's eye when I tilt my head.

"We couldn't really focus after Karl's because somebody decided that they were going to break their ankle in the backyard.", Sapnap teases, gently poking my side.

"Shut up.", I mumble, lightly poking him back.

"We played Jackbox with Tommy and Tubbo.", Karl informs us.

I smile at the mention of the boys.

They're like little brothers to all of us.

"I'm sure that was interesting.", I reply, playing with the strings of Sap's hoodie.

My phone starts ringing, and I answer it without even reading the ID.

"Hello?", I answer the phone.

"Aunty!", I hear a familiar voice chirp through the phone.

I immediately perk up.

"Hi, Linc!", I giggle.

I'm surprised most of the boys don't get whiplash by how fast their heads turn to look at me.

"Put him on speaker!", Karl taps my thigh excitedly.

"We want to talk to him too!", Alex agrees, nodding at me.

"We're all here, buddy.", I inform him as I press the speaker button.

All of the boys excitedly greet him, and I think all of us miss him equally nowadays.

Okay, I definitely miss him more, but you get the point.

"How are you?", Clay asks, leaning a little closer to make sure Linc can hear him.

"Went swimming today!", I can almost imagine the big smile on his face.

We continue talking with him for a little bit until the conversation dies down.

"Hey, Linc. Is Oma there?", I ask him.

"Oma!! Aunty!"

I hear a rustling sound as the phone is transferred.

"Hello, Finley.", Sheri actually is pretty nice.

I just think this whole situation is bringing the worst out of everyone.

"How's Linc doing for you?", I ask her.

"He's done really well here. We've gotten him settled into a pretty good routine.", I can hear how proud she sounds about it.

My heart drops.

If she's being honest, I'm really happy that he has a good routine.

But it also makes it harder to tear him away from them if he does.

"T-that's good.", I nod even though I know she can't see me.

Sapnap tightens his hold around my waist, and I know he's silently telling me they're all here for support.

"I do have to say. You've done a really good job with Lincoln. His vocabulary has expanded so much in the little time you had him, and he's such a respectful little boy.", she praises her grandson.

I smile a little bit, glad she's impressed.

"So, when are you bringing him back?", I ask her.

"We wanted to speak to you about that."
