The reason

The next day was extremely awkward for Karasuno, Shoyo doing whatever he could to avoid them, keeping close to Kei and Yama, never leaving their side. Many of the players on the other teams had begun getting worried over the fact he was acting so different to normal, and how he wasn't smiling much.

Each attempt at asking Kei or Yama ended with a quick "don't worry about it" and if they asked Karasuno they would just shake their heads. Everyone was confused, and it didn't help when Kei and Yama gave out death glares at anyone who dared come up and ask Shoyo if he was okay, which they eventually stopped doing since they saw how sad he became each time someone asked him.

At some point Shoyo could be seen pulling Kei's shirt sleeve, nudging him to follow him before Kei would lead him outside, Yama closely behind. 'What happened?' most of them thought as they watched the now closed door, the one which Shoyo had left through just a few moments earlier.

Kenma sighed a little, eventually realizing what must've happened before he left the teams behind, going to find his blind friend, who most definitely needed more people who knew since before with him. It took a while but he soon found the three teens, sitting outside on a bench, Shoyo using Kei's lap as a pillow while sleeping.

"Hello" was all Kenma said as he walked up to them, Yama was originally on guard until Kei greeted him back before telling him Shoyo just fell asleep. "I can see that," he said sarcastically before continuing, "they saw didn't they?" Kei's expression turned grim, looking down at his sleeping boyfriend as Yama looked between the two. "Ehm, excuse me? You knew?" Yama said in a quiet voice, Kenma just nodded slightly before sitting down next to him.

They were all quiet for a while before Kenma spoke up, and the simple but serious question he asked the two was "what did they say?" knowing no matter how they reacted Shoyo would still be in a slump for a while. "Well, they felt bad about it and are wondering what to do to make up for it, Yama warned them not to bring it up and that if Shoyo wishes to talk about then he will," Kei eventually responded after thinking for a while.

Kenma simply nodded, the three teens once more sitting in silence, making small talk every now and then before Shoyo eventually woke up. "I fell asleep?" was all he asked as he began moving into a sitting position. "Yeah, you did, Kenma is also here by the way." Kei responded lazily as he patted Shoyo's head. "He is?" Shoyo asked tiredly before whistling, giving a small smile in Kenma's direction, "hi Kenma" he then added meekly, sounding tired.

"Hello Shoyo, your friend and boyfriend here told me what happened," Kenma responded with a kind voice, the blind boy only giving an "oh" before he nodded and put his head against Kei, hugging him and shutting his eyes. "I'm not ready to tell them.." was all he voiced out to the other three, to which all of them said "you don't have to."

The four of them just sat here, talking every once in a while, Shoyo never once letting go of Kei. "Did you not sleep well Shoyo?" Kenma eventually asked as Shoyo was on the verge of falling back to sleep. Shaking his head he responded "not really, I couldn't sleep much because of what happened."

Once he was done he buried his head against his boyfriend, to which Kei lazily wrapped his arms around him, "it'll all be okay Shoyo, I promise" was all he said as he hugged him a little tighter. Yama and Kenma smirked at them, "how cute" they then said at the same time, momentarily making eye contact before laughing.

Kei mumbled a quiet "Shut up" before he looked away, avoiding eye contact with the two teens who were now grinning at him. "Someone's embarrassed huh?" was all Kenma said to which Yama nodded, "I know right."

Eventually Kei snapped, "if all you're going to do is tease us, then leave us alone for a bit why don't you?" in an annoyed voice, surprising the other three momentarily before they laughed, leaving Kei even more frustrated. "Yeah, yeah, we'll leave, we'll talk to you later" Yama said before motioning for Kenma to follow him inside, saying a quick "bye" to Shoyo before they went out of sight.

Shoyo giggled once he heard the relieved sigh his boyfriend breathed as soon as their friends had left. "What?" Kei asked, confused but happy to see a genuinely happy expression on his boyfriend's face. "You're so cute Kei!" was all he said as he grinned, hugging the taller and giving a content sigh as he shut his eyes, despite that not really making any difference.

〜 Time skip brought by hugs 〜

Later that day Kei was sitting quietly with Shoyo leaning against his shoulder, contemplating bringing up a question he had asked Kenma earlier. He kept wavering whether to ask his boyfriend about it or not, scared of making the current situation worse. 'I really want to know why he doesn't want others to know..' was all Kei could think as he sat quietly.

Eventually he decided to just ask, knowing that if Shoyo wasn't ready then he would tell him as much. "Hey Shoyo?" he voiced quietly, and he could feel Shoyo stir a little as he turned his head "yes?" was his only response as he waited patiently for Kei to continue.

"Actually, earlier today I asked your friend why you don't want others to know, it just came to mind that you never really told me... he only said that it's not his story to tell, which I agree to, so I was wondering if you feel okay with telling me?" Kei began before quickly adding "but only if you're sure you're ready, if not then I'll wait."

Shoyo looked surprised momentarily before he smiled adoringly at him and nodded, "actually.." Shoyo took a deep breath as he began talking, telling Kei about his reason for keeping it a secret. "It really isn't anything special, it's just, to begin with I never really told anyone, I liked to be treated the same as everyone else despite my disability.."

Kei whistled each time he nodded, making sure his adorable sunshine knew he was listening without interrupting too much. Shoyo only smiled at him in return as he kept talking. "I only ever told those I felt I could trust, or that I was very close with, many of my friends still don't know.. It's not really that I don't trust them, I just, couldn't..." Shoyo took a moment to collect his thoughts, Kei hugging him in the meantime.

"I wasn't really worried of anyone finding out in the beginning, but after I told one of my friends about it, he changed completely, because of that, me and everyone else cut ties with him... but.. I still can't get over it.." at this point Shoyo went quiet, hugging Kei tightly with his eyes clutched closed. "It's okay Shoyo, it's okay" Kei said on repeat.

"Thank you for telling me Shoyo" he then said quietly, kissing the crown of his boyfriend's head, only to get a small nod back, and a quiet "thank you for listening." The two of them stayed still for a while, neither wanting to leave, but eventually they had to as Yama called out to them, saying it was time for dinner. They both sighed quietly as the two of them stood up, walking to the cafeteria in silence hand in hand.

〜 Bonus

Once Yama and Kenma got inside they shared a look, silently asking each other "what should we do" before they both turned away shyly. After a short silence Yama spoke up, "shall we go for a walk?" with a nervous smile as he glanced at the pudding haired boy. "Sure" was all Kenma responded quietly before the two began walking, both feeling strangely nervous as they made their way down the hall together.
