The crowd was screaming and my head instantly turned to the left where my family was sitting.
'What expression do they have on their faces?'
But my gaze bas stolen by the examiner who was lifting his hand to stop the spar.
'No! If this happens... I'm eliminated!'
I quickly got up, forcing my legs to carry me and my sweaty hands to stop shaking.
"I'm... I'm fine!" I screamed at the lifting hand. They looked at me in a worried and sceptical expression but let down their arm.
'Ficus, you idiot!'
What had happened a few minutes ago, was my body being hit by a water wave, a very powerful one. Water attacks are very easy to stop. But it's problematic when you don't. It's really painful and can break some bones which, undoubtedly was my case.
At the first, easiest spar, I was already losing.
No matter how much I trained with the 'Musketeers', I wasn't one. When training at home, I was able to block powerful attacks with ease but because I didn't feel attacked.
But now, as I was fighting with someone who had the intention to win, looking at me with hostility, even though it was just a simple sport spirit and not real hostility, I felt intimidated.
As the wave came, I just stood there and took the hit.
As I stood up, I finally looked at the crowd and saw everyone. They were all worried.
'I can't lose like this! I can't lose like this! Focus! Focus!'
I nodded to my opponent to continue and he hesitated a moment before continuing.
"Force of flow"
I tensed my body, my Ans were in place, the spell was ready! I opened the palm of my hand to cast my protection shield but my lips just didn't move and my body refused to answer. 'Dammit!'
The image of being attacked brought me back to my instincts if survival, which consisted in not moving at all to discourage the person from hitting me. If I fight, it gets worse.
Another powerful wave hit my chest and I was propelled a few more meters back. 'It can't end like this!'
I stood up, ignoring the pain and felt how blood was filling my mouth but I quickly swallowed it. 'If I cough blood, the spar will end for sure.' But as I was thinking that the hand went up again.
"Wait!"
The examiner gave me a look that meant 'do you want me to get fired because of you?' But his hand went down again.
"No next time", he simply said.
I nodded and tried to focus. 'I can protect myself. Incan fight'. But I felt like repeating the same thing as before that would have the same consequence. I tried to remove Noah from my life, forget how weak he was and I still ended up paralyzed.
What can I do? Why was I given this high power if I couldn't even use it? I can't try the same approach. Removing Noah wasn't an option anymore. I tried and I failed twice.
I decided to not take the same approach and took a risk. I closed my eyes and focused... the opponent was already preparing the cast... 'Noah' the spell was ready and he launched the attack.
As the wave was coming towards me, Noah appeared next to me. 'You're not trying to erase me anymore?' He had a sarcastic smile that he learned from Mike. The man had spent more time in his house than his own father and Noah couldn't help but be influenced by him.
'I need you. You're the strong one out of us. Help me fight now, because we can, we can fight, Noah.'
As I opened my palm to cast a protective shield, a cold hand came around my arm and as the wave got closer, we stopped it just before it hit us.
