One year old.

"Honey, can you get me Blaine's bottle?" Pamela asked James, smiling gratefully when he reached into their bag and handed his wife a bottle full of milk.

Elizabeth was sitting on the floor, watching her son play with blocks, while Burt was in the kitchen making all of the adult's lunch.

Kurt smiled to himself as he stacked the blocks to make a tower, and laughed as they came crashing down.

"Sweetie, what do you want on your sandwich?"

Elizabeth turned around to answer Burt, taking her eyes off of her son. Pamela looked up to watch Kurt, her eyes going wide when she saw him getting on his legs to stand up.

"Guys, look at Kurt!" Pamela said, trying not to be too loud so she wouldn't disturb Kurt. Everyone turned to look at him, all of them in shock as Kurt began to walk, smiling to himself as he used his legs for the first time.

"Oh my god." Elizabeth said quietly to herself, feeling the tears well up in her eyes. Kurt turned to look at her and smiled, then walked all the way over to her, falling into her arms and giggling.

"What a smart little boy you are, well done Kurt!" Elizabeth said, kissing Kurt all over his face until he was squirming to get out of her grasp.

Blaine looked around, not knowing what was going on, but smiled and clapped loudly. "Kurt!"

Everyone froze, turning to look at Blaine.

"He... he just said his first words." James said, looking down at his son.

"His first words were 'Kurt'." Pamela said, laughing and kissing Blaine on the cheek. "Yes, that's Kurt."

Blaine looked over at where Pamela was pointing, staring at Kurt who was sitting in front of his mom.

"Kurt." He said again, and smiled brightly.

Kurt laughed lightly, and crawled over to where Pamela was sitting on the couch. Pamela put Blaine in the ground, letting go two babies babble nonsense to each other.

Elizabeth stood up and moved to sit next to her best friend, smiling at both of their sons.

"I can't believe Kurt took his first steps and Blaine said his first words all in the space of two minutes." Elizabeth said, laughing and shaking her head.

"Not to mention his first words being 'Kurt'. I think our worries about them not getting along are definitely out of the window now." Pamela said.

"One hundred percent." Elizabeth agreed. "Before we know it they're going to be walking across the stage in a cap and gown."

"Let's just make the most of the next seventeen years then." Pamela said, grabbing Elizabeth's hand in her own and smiling at her.
