Rue De l'Ourcine, Paris, 9:52 pm, June 4th, 1832
"Oh, papa, where are we going?" Cosette asked as the carriage lurched over another bump in the road.
"Somewhere safe." He said.
It was hardly after Marius had left the night before that her father had decided that it was best that they left Paris. Cosette was devastated, she had only just found Marius again, and now he would be gone forever.
Valjean had known that Javert had been close to finding him for years, but his worst fears had been confirmed the night before, when his daughter had seen men lurking outside the gate, and he knew that it would be safer for her in London. So plans had been made, and off they went.
He glanced out into the darkness surrounding the road, "One day more. Another day, another destiny, on this never ending road to Calvary."
He looked back over to where Cosette was staring out the other window, "These men who seem to know my crime will surely come a second time- one day more."
Marius had been wandering the streets for hours since he'd found the house empty, he stared up at the sky, "I did not live until today, how can I live when we are parted?"
"One day more!"
"Tomorrow you'll be worlds away," Cosette sang desperately, her voice mingling with Marius' from miles away, "And yet with you my world has started!"
"One more day all on my own!" Eponine cried, as yet a smile still graced her face as she moved back toward her lodgings.
"And yet with you my world has started!"
"One more day with him not caring! (I was born to be with you) What a life I might have known! (and I swear I will be true!) But he never saw me there!" Eponine, Marius and Cosette all sang to the darkened sky.
Enjolras strode to the center of the backroom, "One more day before the storm!"
"Do I follow where she goes?" Marius wandered through the streets, drawing close enough to the Musain to gaze up at its lighted windows.
"At the barricades of freedom!" Jacquelyn grinned, raising their cup to the men as Marius still pondered, "Do I join my brothers there?"
"When our ranks begin to form! (do I stay or do I dare)" Enjolras called, so that the whole cafe could hear.
Jacquelyn grinned at Grantaire, raising their eyebrows, "Will you take your place with me?" And god damn it if he hadn't already made up his mind, Grantaire sure as hell would've been convinced as he raised his tankard in salute.
Everyone in the cafe joined in, "The time is now! The Day is here!"
"One day more!" Valjean cried.
Javert looked about the police spies that had been called to his office, "One more day till revolution, we will nip it in the bud! We'll be ready for these school boys, they will wet themselves in blood!"
"One day more!"
The Thenardiers moved through the crowds of students and workers in the Musain, and the streets surrounding, "Watch 'em run a muck, catch as they fall, never know your luck when theres a free for all! Here a little dip, there a little touch," Madame slipped a roll of bandages from Joly's bag as he rushed up the stairs into the Musain, "Most of them are goners so they won't miss much!"
Up in the back room Gavroche jumped up on a table, "One day to a new beginning!"
"Raise the flag of freedom high!" Combeferre and Courfeyrac joined in, followed by the rest of the people crowded in the building, "Every man will be a king! (every man will be a king) There's a new world for the winning!"
Jacquelyn threw their fist in the air, "There's a new world to be won!"
"Do you hear the people sing?" Enjolras yelled.
Marius came charging up the stairs, hoisting a red flag over his head, "My place is here! I Fight with you!"
Bahroel thumped him on the back as across the city Valjean cried, "One day more!"
"We will join these people's heroes- (I did not live until today!)" Javert and Cosette sang, Madame Thenardier joining in to sing, "We will follow where they go! (watch 'em run a muck) {tomorrow you'll be worlds away}"
"We will join these people's heroes! We will follow where they go! We will learn there little secrets! We will know the things they know!"
"One day more!"
Eponine leaned against the wall of her apartment, "One more day all on my own!" As her parents cried, "Watch 'em run a muck, catch 'em as they fall, never know your luck when there's a free for all!"
"We'll be ready for these school boys!" Javert insisted.
"Tomorrow we'll be far away!" Valjean cried, then Javert joining in from the police headquarters, "Tomorrow is the judgment day!"
Jacquelyn's chest buzzed as all of Paris seemed to come together in singing, "Tomorrow we'll discover what our god in heaven has in store! One more dawn! One more day! One day more!"
