Kurt was pulled reluctantly from a very nice dream about being rowed across the lake by a certain curly-haired someone by a cry of annoyance followed by a shout of laughter and two sets of retreating footsteps.
"Wassat?" he mumbled stupidly, lifting his head from his pillow and staring around.
Blaine was standing next to his own bed, adjusting his tie and grinning. He turned to Kurt, who silently hoped he hadn't been drooling in his sleep. "Jeff turned Nick's hair pink," he said, shaking his head. "He's not too pleased."
"Can't imagine he would be," Kurt muttered, blinking away sleep and sitting up. He stretched his arms over his head and looked around drowsily.
"I was wondering when you were going to get up," Blaine said as he stuffed his wand in his pocket and swung his bag over his shoulder. "You know Charms starts in half an hour, right?"
"What?" Kurt screeched, looking at Blaine through wide eyes.
Blaine watched in mild amusement as he leapt from his bed, scurried to snatch up his robes and wand, ran to the bathroom and slammed the door shut behind him.
When Kurt rushed from the bathroom twenty minutes later, Blaine was gone, along with the rest of his new roommates. He felt a twinge of annoyance that he would have to walk to class on his own in combination with a stab of hunger. Stuffing his Charms book into his bag, he hurried from the room, mentally noting to tell Blaine not to let him sleep in again.
He found the Charms room easily-he'd met Blaine there, after all. There were twenty or so students seated at the tables of various Houses. Kurt glanced around and saw Blaine waving to him from the back table where he sat with Wes and David. He smiled and made his way towards them.
"You alright?" Blaine said, giving him an amused look as he pulled out the chair next to him.
Kurt sat down smoothly and lay his bag on the table. "Yes," he said with a sniff. "Though I'd just like to ask you not to let me oversleep again. I need ample time to prepare for my day and without it, I look like the subject of a particularly unpleasant Care of Magical Creatures lesson, as was the case today."
Blaine's smile faltered and he looked guilty. "I'm sorry," he said. "You just looked so peaceful."
Kurt's lips parted in surprise and he blushed faintly.
"And you look fine," Blaine said, nudging him. "But I'll be sure to wake you at a decent time tomorrow."
Kurt smiled in thanks and pulled out his textbook as tiny Professor Flitwick tottered into the room with a stack of books, which he set down before turning to the class.
"We'll be starting our study of advance Conjuration today," he squeaked.
He began a lengthy lecture about the method and theory behind Conjuring Spells but Kurt found his mind wandering as his stomach growled loudly. He wasn't taking in a word of what Flitwick was saying, which annoyed him because he knew it was important. His stomach gave a particularly loud whine and he shifted uncomfortably.
"Hey."
He turned slightly to see Blaine looking at him sympathetically.
"Here," Blaine said, pressing something into his hand under the table with a smile.
Kurt glanced down at the colorfully wrapped candy that said "Honeydukes" across it. He flashed Blaine a shy smile. "Thanks."
Blaine winked at him before returning his focus to Flitwick.
Kurt unwrapped the chocolate as quietly as possible and popped a piece in his mouth. It was possibly the most delicious piece of candy he had ever eaten. He nudged Blaine's knee and mouthed, "oh my god!"
